Failure to follow these instructions may result in valve leakage which could be time consuming and expensive to correct. The valve you are about to install was thoroughly checked for performance before it left our factory. However due to natural relaxation of the diaphragm material, we strongly recoend that the bolt torque be checked prior to installation or iediately prior to pressure testing if the piping installation is under construction for a long period of time. ) Ensure that the system is fully drained and free of internal pressure. ) Actuate valve to the open position to relieve closing force on diaphragm. ) Hold the lower bolt head with a wrench. Use a torque wrench, with the correct socket, to tighten the nuts on the top of the bonnet to the proper starting torque values (see table). These values are valid for an installation environment with normal ambient temperatures ( C). 4) it is important that the four bolts are progressively tightened in a cross pattern to the required torque and that this is done with the valve open so the load is evenly distributed upon the diaphragm and valve body. 5) For optimum performance after the first temperature cycle, George Fischer recoends to retighten the bolts to the defined torque (see table). Prior to retightening, follow the instructions above.
