2 Ranking Definition: The likelihood that a resident is food insecure. Interpretation: 1 = least risk of being food insecure 169 = greatest risk of being food insecure Basic indicators: Based on an examination of income and socioeconomic characteristics such as: Ranking Education Age Children Poverty Unemployment Vehicle ownership Definition: Geographic proximity and the number of food retail options for consumers. Interpretation: 1 = best geographic proximity to food retailers. Basic indicators: Based on an examination of food retail options such as: Ranking Local s Supermarkets, Grocery, Wholesale Clubs, and Mass Merchandisers Fast Definition: How well town residents are being served by public food assistance. Interpretation: 1 = more public food assistance services and available bus transportation.
