LIONS PRAYER When I attend my Lions Club and break bread at the table I give a million thanks to god To know that I am able To meet there with my fellowmen Relax and play and sing To hear the speakers of the day The fine thoughts that they bring I realize that I have a part In caring for the blind Also the under-privileged Lets keep them all in mind Now as we do our daily tasks Pray God we do them greatly Then Liberty and Intelligence Will be Our Nation's Safety.

FLAG INVOCATION We salute our national flag and pledge our allegiance to the same. Its honour and its glory depend upon the zeal and assiduity with which each one of us will shoulder our responsibilities of a good citizen. Its history-written in letters of gold inspires us to put in good work for the fair name of our country. We declare our unflinching loyalty to our national flag and maintain that its course shall be our course and that each individual Amongst us shall make genuine efforts to add to its luster and glory and make it fly proudly aloft in the Comity of nations.

FATHER OF LIONISM LION MELVIN JONES ( ) Though thirteen is unlucky for some, for those who look up for a ray of hope, 13th of Jan, 1879, was the most lucky day. It saw the birth of the founder of the world's greatest service organization. The Lions Clubs International. Melvin Jones was born on this momentous day at Fort Thomas in Arizona in the midst of war cries, sound of battle guns and bloodshed. These gruesome childhood experiences left an Indelible impression in his mind and made him abhor war and violence. He became a Successful Insurance Agent. He saw wealthy men trying to help each other to better their prospects without caring for their less fortunate and the suffering fellowmen. He felt the need to do something to counter this indifference. He visualized the great potential in bonding together like minded men, Thus being restless with these dreams he dedicated his th life to build the Lions Club international and founded it on the 7 June, He worked for the cause tirelessly as its Founder and breathed his last working for the Organisation on June 1, Today over a million men, Women and youth in 157 countries all over the world inspired by the Ideals, forethought and dedication of our founder, involve selflessly, sacrificing time, talent and treasure in trying to do at least a little of what he had done to the Organisation and in practicing what he had laid down as the Code of Ethics and in attempting to solve the many problems that face our fellowmen even though complete solution to all problems may be impossible.

Service WORDS OF MELVIN JONES The Following Are Excerpts From The Speeches, Writings And Letters Of The Founder Of Lionism You cannot get very far until you start doing something for somebody else. Naming the Association The lion stands for something, not so much as noble animal, but rather as traditional symbol of great deeds and high accomplishment. Personal Gain Why was Lions international the first service club organization? My answer is that we were the first association to insert into our constitution the flat statement that no club shall hold out the beginning of unselfish service to others. Treatment of Others You must give the other Fellow the benefit of doubt. Friendship is an end not a means. A man must accept nothing that has a string tied to it. Peace The Lions are Unflinchingly united in a strong stand for peace that ensures freedom and justice for all people and nations. There can be no temporizing where human values and rights are concerned'

Dreams Dreams are the fool ideas of day before yesterday that have become the common place miracles of today. Brotherhood The whole purpose of Lionism is to reach people the importance of the brother hood of man. Unselfishness may be the greatest force for food in any neighbouring or in any country. True Brotherhood exists where people live together, work together and break bread together in mutual trust and respect. Truth It does not make any difference who discovers truth so long as it is discovered. Truth has been in existence longer than anybody who goes out looking for it. Giving What you give to humanity you get back. Bread cast on the waters is much more wholesome and nourishing than pie in the sky. The Future of Lions International I hope there will always be a land of Beyond for Lions international, a goal that will keep growing larger and larger as we approach it, yet will keep just out of reach, challenging us to run faster, work, harder, think bigger, give more'.

OBJECTS OF LIONISM To create and foster a spirit of generous consideration among the people of the world through a study of the problems of International Relationship from the stand point of business and professional ethics. To promote the theory and practice of the principles of good Government and Citizenship. To take active interest in the civic, social and moral welfare of the community. To unite the members in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding To provide a forum for the full and free discussion of all matters of public interest, Partisan Politics and sectarian religion alone excepted To encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in business and professions provided that no club shall hold out financial benefits to its members as one of its objectives.

LIONS CODE OF ETHICS To show faith in the worthiness of my vocation by industrious application to the end that I may merit in reputation for quality of service. To Seek success and to demand all fair remuneration of profit as my just due, but to accept no profit or success at the price of my own self-respect because of unfair advantage taken or because of questionable acts on my part. To Remember that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down another's To be loyal to my clients or customers and true to myself. Whenever a doubt arises as to right or ethics of my position or action towards others, to resolve such doubt against myself. To hold friendship as an end and not a means. To hold that true friendship exists not on account of the service performed by one to another, but that true friendship demands nothing but accepted service in the spirit in which it is given Always bear in mind my obligations as a citizen to my state and my community and to give nation unswerving loyalty, in word, act and deed. To give them freely of my time, labour and means. To aid my fellowman by giving my sympathy to those in distress, my aid to the weak and my substance to the needy. To be careful with my criticism and liberal with my praise: to build up and not destroy.
