5 Purpose of the Advisory Council Framing the future of mobility in Minnesota To develop recommendations for changes in state law, rules and policies to maximize the benefits and prepare for the widespread adoption of automated and connected vehicles 5/29/2018 5

6 Duties of the Advisory Council 1. Consult with governmental entities, communities experiencing transportation barriers, transportation stakeholders, the automotive industry, business, labor, technology companies, advocacy groups, and educational institutions 2. 12 Internal devices connect vehicles to other vehicles, to infrastructure, to the cloud, and to other road users Provides driver alerts but does not control the operation of the vehicle

13 Electric Vehicles (EV) Economics and GHG policies worldwide will increase the # of EVs dramatically Autonomous vehicles being developed on an EV platform

14 Shared Mobility Services Transportation Network Companies (TNCs) such as Uber and Lyft Other innovative shared mobility services including carsharing, bikesharing and microtransit

15 Shared Autonomous Vehicles (SAV) SAVs are ondemand selfdriving vehicles that operate as part of a privately or publicly managed fleet

16 Mobility as a Service (MaaS) Almost all examples of MaaS include two elements: A single account that is used to access and pay for a range of public and private travel options across multiple modes, and A real time journey planner that provides information on what multi-modal travel options are available to go from origin to destination, so the traveler can choose which option best needs their travel time and cost requirements.
