4 MNS Motor Management INSUM 2 Objective ABBs switchgear and intelligent systems are designed for continuous evolution, although individual products within the systems go through a life-cycle process. It defines the overall support policy for the entire product life-cycle and covers support activities. The product life cycle policy is a common process in BU EPDS and governed by the guidelines established in the document: 1TGC900005M BUATLVS Product Life Cycle Policy June 6, 2018 Slide 4

5 MNS Motor Management INSUM 2 Common Product Life Cycle Phase Classification Classification is the defined structure for the total life cycle phase of each product after its first release. The product life cycle policy classification is divided into the following phases : ACTIVE CLASSIC LIMITED > 5 years Min 5 years 5 years RELEASE FOR SALE LAST BUY Total Life Cycle Time > 12 years MANUFACTURING END OBSOLETE A product is ACTIVE once it has been released for sale. It is actively marketed for new installations or retrofit projects. It is maintained normally and is contained in the respective standard sales policies. The length of time for ACTIVE classification is dependent on market conditions, technology advances and hardware and software component availability to ABB A product will become CLASSIC when the BU EPDS Management Team makes a decision to remove the product from active sales for new installations or retrofit projects. Spare parts remain available but can be replaced by a solution of same form and function. LAST BUY is a sub-phase within the CLASSIC phase. LAST BUY is open for 12 months and is immediately followed by MANUFACTURING END A product enters the LIMITED phase after MANUFACTURING END. At this point the product responsibility is transferred to a designated BU EPDS service organization. The support in this phase is typically limited to field service, workshop repair and the sale of refurbished spare parts. Upgrade to latest technologies may be applied. A product enters the OBSOLETE phase when the service organization decides that it is no longer capable of supporting the product technically or that it is no longer commercially feasible to do so. INSUM2 shall contribute a minimum of 20% of business share to the total business of BU LPLS Intelligent switchgear product portfolio. This has ended in Note2: Classic Phase: The classic phase will start 1 year after the announcement of end of active phase in When this happens, the classic phase will be at least 5 years, after this a manufacturing viability check is every two years starting INSUM 2 has been decided to enter the Limited phase in January Note3: Limited Phase: In this phase the manufacturing of units stopped. However for maximum support of our customer we will check the possibility to continue manufacturing. In either case the limited phase will be of minimum 3 years starting from Spare parts are available however not entire range is guarenteed.
