1 PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release Swire Pacific Offshore (SPO) celebrates the naming of Pacific Gannet, its first G Class Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) in Japan The high specification G Class vessels with their fuel-efficient design are the latest addition to SPO s modern and diverse fleet of vessels Singapore, 15 September 2014 Shipowner and operator, Swire Pacific Offshore Operations (Pte) Ltd (SPO) celebrated the naming of its first G Class PSV vessel, Pacific Gannet in Japan on Friday, 12 September The naming ceremony was held at the Japan Marine United Corporation (JMU) s Yokohama Shipyard and graced by Lady Sponsor, Mrs Mi Hyun Bray, the wife of Mr Rupert Bray, Marine Services Director of SPO. The delivery of Pacific Gannet is another important milestone in SPO s long term partnership with JMU. This is the first of 10 G Class PSV vessels that SPO has commissioned JMU to build over the next three years. The addition of the G-Class PSV vessels will provide another industry leading product within our fleet portfolio, helping us provide our global clients with outstanding service, says Managing Director of SPO, Mr Neil Glenn. The G Class series is the latest addition to SPO s fleet and was developed to meet the increase in demand for PSV vessels from its clients. Today, SPO operates a diverse fleet of 88 offshore support vessels, including anchor handling tug supply vessels, platform supply vessels, ice-breaking supply vessels, anchor handling tugs, seismic survey vessels, windfarm installation vessels, accommodation barges and multi-purpose offshore vessels. As part of its fleet expansion plans, SPO aims to have a total of 100 vessels by the end of JMU has worked with SPO for a number of years, completing the construction of its four vessel H Class 4,700 dwt PSV series in addition to the current L Class series of 5,200 dwt PSVs. We will continue to work closely with SPO to ensure that the G Class vessels are built to the highest standards of safety, reliability and quality, says Representative Director, Vice President of JMU, Mr Yoshio Otagaki. The G Class vessels (4,000 DWT) are suited for a wide range of supply duties in the offshore industry. Powered by a diesel electric propulsion plant and equipped with counter rotating azimuth thrusters with variable frequency drives. The tank arrangement allows for generous liquid capacities, with 969 m 3 of cargo fuel. The efficient hull form and bulbous bow shape also ensure optimal fuel efficiency. The bulbous bow design takes into consideration various operating speeds, draughts and sea states that Offshore Support Vessels (OSV) typically operate in and is designed to maximise its effectiveness over a wide range rather than a tuned design point. These vessels are certified with DP2, SPS and Clean Class notations and have high Environmental Regularity Number (ERN) of (99, 99, 99, 97). The 810 m 2 clear deck space is designed to accommodate three lengths of drill pipe or casing with safe access for the deck crew and is able to facilitate a wide range of project required machinery and equipment. The cabin outfitting is MLC 2006 compliant and can accommodate up to 48 people. 4 5 6 1 Clear Deck Area of 810m 2 The main deck is designed to accommodate 3 lengths of drill pipe or casing with safe access for the deck crew between joints. The cargo discharge manifold is ergonomically designed for ease of connection and to ensure safe hose deployment overboard. Top 10 Features DNV Class Fire Fighter I The vessel fire fighting pump is independently driven using a variable speed electric motor. This is designed to improve operating efficiency through a quick start up time and enhanced reliability through a simple direct drive system. Diesel Electric Power Plant for optimal fuel economy The propulsion system features a computerised power management system that is programmable to ensure that the diesel engine load is optimised around the best efficiency point of the specific fuel consumption curve. The diesel power plant uses 4 generators arranged in 2 pairs with a father/ son size for each pair. The power management system has selectable operating modes that have preset operating load dependant start/stop points for the generator sets. 7 Accommodates up to 48 persons The cabin outfitting is MLC 2006 compliant with low noise and enhanced floor areas. Recreational facilities include a TV room, a lounge with internet access and a spacious gym equipped with aerobic and strength equipment. 2 Counter Rotating Azimuth Propulsion with variable frequency drives The main propulsion drives utilise both variable frequency for finite speed control and counter rotating propeller technology to ensure that no thrust force is lost through the vessels generated wake allowing less power to be used for the same speed and thus further promoting optimal fuel efficiency. 3 Cargo System The tank arrangement allows for generous liquid cargo capacities with 969m 3 of cargo fuel. Additionally, the vessel tank layout has been arranged for the future upgrade to carry low flash point liquid fuels to DNV LFL* class notation to a capacity of approximately 150m 3. 4 Enhanced Damage Stability The vessel is designed with Special Purpose Ships (SPS) damage stability compliance. The SPS compliance allows the vessel to carry up to a maximum of 60 special purpose personnel. 8 Vessel Docking Cycles The hull has been designed for a 7.5-year window between Class required mandatory dockings. The propulsion and tunnel thrusters have been selected for their ability to be exchanged with the vessel afloat. 9 DNV Class DYNPOS-AUTR DP2 notation with high ERN 99,99,99,97 The highest ERN number has been selected to ensure excellent station keeping capability. This has been achieved through the installation of 3 variable speeds, controllable pitch tunnel thrusters. 10 Bow Design The bulbous bow design takes into consideration various operating speeds, draughts and sea states that Offshore Support Vessels (OSV) typically operate in and as such is designed to maximise its effectiveness over a wide range rather than a tuned design point.
