4 K-9GS3 HANDLER UNIT POWER UP 4 The K-9 Guidance System Handler Unit is powered by two 1.5-Volt Alkaline batteries. Most manufacturers of these cells designate them as size AA. The diagrams on the following pages demonstrate proper battery installation and power-up for the K-9GS3 Handler Unit. Battery Compartment: The K-9 Guidance System Handler Unit is powered by two 1.5- Volt Alkaline (AA) batteries. To insert the batteries remove the back panel of the unit and insert the batteries taking note of proper orientation. The image on the left depicts the proper orientation for the batteries. In addition, the battery holder indicates the proper orientation as well. Always remove batteries when unit is not in use. Power-Up Procedure: POWER To power on the K-9GS3 Handler Unit press the power button located at the bottom of the unit. When the Handler Unit is powered ON, the status LED initially lights red. Once the status LED lights green, the unit is fully operational. To power off the unit, press and hold the power button for 2 seconds and then release. NOTE: When the battery becomes low, the status LED will change from green to red and stay red. Tactical Electronics & Military Supply

5 K-9GS3 HANDLER UNIT OPERATION 5 Pairing: Once the K-9 Guidance System Handler Unit is powered ON, it is ready to be paired with a Receiver Unit. To pair them up, simply turn on the Receiver Unit and the units will pair up automatically. They will be ready to communicate commands within a matter of seconds. Guidance Commands: Once the K-9 Guidance System Handler Unit is paired with a Receiver, it is ready to transmit guidance commands to the K-9 Guidance System Receiver Unit. To send any of the twelve, three, six or nine commands to the Receiver Unit, press the corresponding direction on the directional joystick. To send either the two cadences tone commands to the Receiver Unit, press one of the corresponding two buttons. When any guidance command is sent, a confirmation message is played back through the audio jack located on the bottom of the unit. Note: Additional headphones will be necessary to hear this confirmation message. Tactical Electronics & Military Supply

6 K-9GS3 RECEIVER UNIT POWER UP 6 The K-9 Guidance System Receiver Unit is powered by two 3-Volt Lithium batteries. Most manufacturers of these cells designate them as size 123 or CR123A. Tactical Electronics systems draw high current; use only GE SANYO, ENERGIZER, or DURACELL batteries. The diagrams on the following pages demonstrate proper battery installation and power-up for the K-9GS3 Receiver Unit. Battery Compartment: The K-9 Guidance System Receiver Unit is powered by three 3-Volt Lithium batteries. To insert the batteries: remove the threaded battery cap, insert the batteries positive terminal first, and then re-install the threaded battery cap. Always remove batteries when unit is not in use. Power-Up Procedure: The power switch for the K-9 Guidance System Receiver Unit is a push button located on the front face of the unit. Fully depress the power switch to power the unit ON. Press and hold for 2 seconds to power the unit OFF. POWER When the K-9 Guidance System Receiver Unit is powered ON, the status LED initially lights red. 7 K-9GS3 RECEIVER UNIT OPERATION 7 Guidance Commands: Once the K-9 Guidance System Receiver Unit is powered ON and paired, it will automatically listen for guidance commands sent from any Handler Unit on the same RF channel. Depending on which Guidance Command is received, the unit will generate a tone on the Receiver Unit s speaker. If the vibrating motors are installed the tone will be paired with vibration during the three and nine o clock commands. Low-Battery Warning: When the K-9 Guidance System Receiver Unit reaches a low battery state, the green LED will change to red and remain red. Installing Vibrating Motors: To install the vibrating motors into the Receiver Housing Unit insert the vibrating motor cable into the DC barrel jack located on the receiver unit. Screw the nut onto the DC barrel to guarantee a secure connection. To remove, unscrew the cable from the DC barrel jack and remove. Tactical Electronics & Military Supply
