10 CASE STUDY RAINBOW CHILDREN S CENTRE, NEWHAM THE BRIEF The opening of Bart s Health NHS Trusts flagship 6.8m Rainbow Children s Centre at Newham University Hospital is a shining example of cutting-edge design within a healthcare environment. Ocura was tasked with ensuring seamless continuity between the wards and corridors by providing furniture which not only met demanding clinical standards but also matched the bespoke colours of the stunning feature wall. The brief asked for multiple products including Readybed Sleeper Chairs, Overbed Tables, Bedside Cabinets and Wardrobes to be supplied in a range of ten colours as well as specific wood effect finish. THE APPROACH As a trusted supplier to the Trust, Ocura was invited to quote for the project. Our extensive colour range across multiple items of ward furniture gave us a clear advantage. We worked with the Trust to demonstrate the products, arrange trials and help them choose the right products for their needs. We also provided tailor-made visuals of what these items would look like so the hospital could visualise these products in their ward. THE OUTCOME Newham described our service as fantastic In total, we supplied 33 Readybed Sleeper Chairs, 33 Easy Clean Overbed tables, 12 Grenada Bedside Cabinets and a further 12 with wardrobes as well as two Sepsis trolleys. 31 CASE STUDY HILLINGDON HOSPITAL THE BRIEF Hillingdon Hospitals new Paediatric A & E is designed to cope with an increase in patient numbers. The development has ensured full separation between adult and paediatric A & E. A design and arts programme was initiated with the aim of creating a welcoming environment appropriate for children of all ages. The hospitals Estates team approached Ocura to source furniture for the new department with the key objectives of securing furniture that matched the ward colour scheme, whilst meeting the Trust s stringent infection control protocol and representing good value for money. THE APPROACH Due to Ocura s colour matching scheme, we could recommend a range of products which coordinated with the planned colour scheme for the new unit. Ocura agreed to a request for an on-site demonstration of our Readybed Sleeper Chair at a Project Team meeting. Due to time constraints, this was scheduled for the following day. Key stakeholders were suitably impressed by the Readybed and commented on its robust and easy to clean nature, as well as the simple pull out mechanism that transforms the chair to a bed. To compliment the Readybed, colour matched Grenada bedside cabinets with digital keypad locks and Gola patient & visitor chairs were chosen to complete the furnishings for the department. THE OUTCOME Ocura were pleased to supply the hospital with 8 x Readybeds, 22 x Gola Chairs and 4 x Grenada Bedside Cabinets with Digital Keypad Locks. 80 CASE STUDY CLIFTON HOSPITAL, BLACKPOOL THE BRIEF To support Clifton Hospital with the major refurbishment of its dementia unit by providing a bespoke colour coordinated storage solution for patients. In response to the latest Dementia research, the hospital has undertaken a far-reaching programme to create the ideal environment for patients which helps them feel calmer, safer and more confident finding their way around independently. The use of colour, particularly in sign posting, was a key consideration. The wide variety of colours that our bedside cabinets and wardrobes come in made them the ideal choice to compliment this project. THE APPROACH The hospital spoke with our expert customer services team to discuss their requirements. We then hosted a demonstration of the cabinets at the hospital. After a successful visit and excellent feedback Ocura s bedside cabinet with two upper drawers and wardrobe unit mounted to the rear was selected. THE OUTCOME The hospital ordered 96 units in seven different colours, after receiving funding from their charity, Blue Skies. All of the cabinets were delivered and installed in a phased approach by Ocura Healthcare Furniture.
