USER S MANUAL Overhead lift Roomer 5200 The Roomer 5200 offers you the unique ability to lift and move a patient from one room to another. The lift is equipped with two belts.

1 USER S MANUAL Overhead lift Roomer 5200 The Roomer 5200 offers you the unique ability to lift and move a patient from one room to another. The lift is equipped with two belts. When transferring from room to room both belts are connected simultaneously, which make the transfer horizontal. The transfer is performed in one sequence to protect the patient and the care giver from unnecessary strain during the lift and moving process. The lift is used during lifting and transporting from a bed, wheelchair, bath /shower and from the floor. The equipment can even be used for walk training, and with extra equipment for balance training and weighing. Caution! triangles are used to warn of situations that demand extra care and attention. Lifting and transporting a person always involves a risk. It is important to read the instructions for both the lift and the lifting equipment. Always ensure yourself that the equipment to be used is working together with the lift. As care giver you are responsible for the safety of the patient and need to be aware of the patient s ability to manage the lifting situation. "Human Care Overhead Lifts are designed to lift and lower patients strictly in an vertical plane, never at a diagonal or angled plane. When lifting a patient, the lift motor should be positioned directly above the patient. When lowering a patient, the lift motor should be positioned directly above the surface onto which the patient is being lowered. LIFTING OR LOWERING A PATIENT AT A DIAGONAL OR ANGLE CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY TO THE PATIENT OR CAREGIVER." Recommended lowest height from the floor is 800 mm. 6 Take the lift (), the charger (2) and the remote control () out of the package. Tear off the seal from the belts after reading the user s manual. Connect (9) the remote control () to the lift (). Place the charger (2) close to a wall socket. 2 Insert the remote control () in the charger (2). If the indicator lamp is lit yellow, charge until the lamp turns green. 9 To hang up the lift Place the lift () on a suitable surface. Turn lever (2) to grey position and pull (do not snatch) the belt (6) out of the red clamp (8), up to the hook on the distance strap and attach from upward position, see fig. A. Turn lever (2) to red position, the belt (6) is now connected. By turning the main switch (6) to ON the lift is ready to use The color indication on the lever (2) corresponds with the clamps (8, 9) where the belts (6, ) come out of the lift (). 2 Fig. A

Charging The charger (2) is only designed for Human Care Lift products. When using the lift the charger (2) must be disconnected. Charge regularly, preferably every night.

The charger (2) is provided with a short-circuit, polarization and overheating protection. The overheating protection turns the charging OFF if the charger has become too warm. A. Indicator lamp B. Charging Put the charger (2) cable (C) in a wall socket outlet, a green lamp (A) above the net symbol indicates that there is current in the charger (2). Put the remote control () into the charger. A sound signal indicates that the charger (2) has contact with the lift (). A yellow lamp (B) is lit above the battery symbol to indicate that the charging has started. When the charging is ready the lamp turns to green light. Remote control functions The remote control () has one UP-button (4) and one DOWN-button (5). When the lift is loaded with less than 20kg/40Ibs it can run in two speed modes. If the buttons are pressed lightly, the speed is slow, and if the buttons are pressed hard the speed is fast. If the lift is loaded with more than kg/40-480Ibs it will only run in the slower mode. 5 4 Maneuvering can also be performed by the buttons placed on the lift. Note: By using these buttons only the slow mode can be performed. 4

When the lever (2) shows red knob, the belt in the red clamp (8) is engaged. The lever shall always point to the belt the lift is to hang in!

5 To use the lift When you want to lift the patient you press the UP-button (4, 0), and when you want to lower, press the DOWN-button (5, ). When the button is pressed the lift will start softly and when you release the button the will lift stop softly. When the lever (2) shows grey knob, the belt () In the grey clamp (9) is engaged. When the lever (2) shows red knob, the belt in the red clamp (8) is engaged. The lever shall always point to the belt the lift is to hang in! When the lift () is hanging in one of the belts and the lever (2) is turned to the free belt, the unloaded belt will be disengaged if you lift the lift up. In that case turn back the lever (2) immediately to the engaged belt to avoid inadvertent disengagement Telescopic bar Set the Telescopic bar () in prescribed position. Ensure that the hooks (4) are in the same position on both sides. Place the patient in the selected sling according to the sling instructions and hang the sling in the hooks (4, 5). Check that the sling is properly anchored in the hooks (4, 5) , 8 The hooks (4) have three adjustable positions. 0 To change position turn the hooks /4 turn at the same time they are pulled out or in to a suitable position. The hooks (4) will automatically fall 5 into place in their positions, it is therefore neces- Fig. B sary to repeat the /4 turn when passing the middle position.(see fig. B). 4 2, 9 Safety catch 4 The lift is equipped with a safety catch. This means that the lift is prevented from involuntary drops. When pulling the belt out too fast the safety catch becomes engaged. Release the safety catch by letting the belt go back to the lift and try again. In a locked position the lever (2) must never be turned, this will block the lowering function. 5

6 Indicator lamp The indicator lamp () has four positions and works only when the main switch (6) is ON. Flashing green - The lift is ON and ready to use. Consistent green - The lift is engaged or loaded. Flashing red - The lift needs to be charged. Consistent red - The lift is blocked and shows an error (See troubleshooting) Belt tensioner guard The lift is equipped with a belt tensioner guard that prevents unintentional discharging of the belt. To be able to pull the belt out the lift must be loaded. This means that when the lift is lowered to a surface the belt must be pulled out at the same time as the Down-button is pressed. The purpose of this maneuver is to pull the belt out and to be able to hook off/onto the rail hook. Emergency stop Set the main switch (6) to the OFF position. Reset by setting the main switch (6) to ON. Emergency lowering In case of an emergency situation the button (8) is pressed, a signal sound start and the lift () is lowered. Always ensure that the emergency lowering is performed in a way that is safe to the patient. The emergency lowering is only to be used in an emergency situation

7 Room to room transfer The lift provides a unique means of lifting and moving a patient from one room to another. The transfer is performed horizontally in a way that is comfortable for the patient. This facility does not require any construction changes, such as making holes in or above doors etc. A. Move the patient to the door opening. Pull the free belt out and hook it from above (A) on to the distance strap in the other room. 2. Turn the lever to the direction the patient is to be moved. In this situation both belts are engaged.. Press the UP-button (4, 0) and keep it pressed to perform the transfer to the other room. The transfer is finished when the belt is released in the room you came from. 4. Hook off the released belt. Hold the belt which now will start to wind up itself into the lift. This procedure can also be actuated between two rail systems without rail connection. The decal on the side of the lifter show how the transfer is performed.

Troubleshooting Description Nothing happens as the UPbutton (4, 0) is pressed. Nothing happens as the DOWN-button is pressed. Nothing happens as the UP- (4, 0) or DOWN-button (5, ) is pressed.

Indicator lamp () turns from green to ashing red. The belt ((6, ) is not fed out when the lift () is placed on a surface. Indicator lamp() Not lit. Consistent red. Consistent green: Consistent green. Action. Check whether the main switch (6) is ON. 2. Batteries are totally discharged. Charge the lift at once.. Check whether the remote control () is connected to the lift (). 2. Check if the lever (2) is fully turned down at either the red or the grey knob.. Charging in progress, interrupt charging. 2. Lift motor overheated, wait for a while and try again.. Lift () overloaded, lower by using the emergency lowering button (8). The lift () is in its maximum upper position, press the DOWN-button (5, ). The lift () is in its maximum lower position, press the UP-button (4, 0). The lever (2) is turned to the wrong direction, turn the lever over to the engaged belt. The batteries need to be charged, but it is still possible to use the lift a couple of times. The lift () should be charged as soon as possible. Pull the belt (6, ) while pressing the DOWNbutton (5, ). Care of the lift Cassette The cassette should be recharged every night. When necessary the cassette can be cleansed with a damp cloth with dishwashing liquid. Do NOT use any strong detergents. Never flush the cassette with water or other liquids. Annual inspection The lift must be inspected at least once a year and be performed by Human Care Lifts authorized personnel. Pay particular attention to parts that show wear. Installation, service and maintenance are to be performed by Human Care Lifts authorized personnel using original spare parts. Daily inspections Check all parts of the sling for loose seams and other signs of wear. Check the lift cassette for any sign of visible damage. Monthly inspections Feed out the lift belt as far as possible to check for visible damage. If the belt is damaged, contact Human Care Lifts. Service agreements Human Care Lifts invites you to sign a service agreement for regular maintenance and testing. Transportation and storage During transport, or when the lift is not to be used for some time, the main switch shall be off, otherwise the battery will discharge. Store the lift at a temperature exceeding freezing point and at normal relative humidity. Recycling Rejected lifts can be returned to Human Care for recycling (NOTE! includes lead (acid) batteries).
