2 General information The SW off-load switch is a complete range designed to cover all the applications to be met in DC traction power substations and other industrial applications. Its modular concept enables to build single pole or double pole disconnect switches, change-over switches or disconnect and earthing switches, for insulation voltages 3000 Vdc/ac or 4800 Vdc/ac and rated thermal currents from HV connection 000 to 8000 A. Installed inside cubicles, the SW switch can be operated either manually or electrically, and the customer can select among standard options safety interlockings made via key locks and/or electromagnets. The severe testing procedures applied for the type testing as well as for the serial testing make the SW switch a safe component with a unique design and a high level of reliability. 3 High modularity The figures on the page show the basic configuration of each, and device (for a current of 000 A and a voltage of 800 Vdc). All these devices are also delivered in other configurations of current, voltage, operation and number of pole, thanks to a high industrialized modularity as shown below. 9 Details of the earth connection on the base plate Ø 5 5 Fixation system The SW series switches are fixed vertically as shown here by means of M screws. The two or three fixing supports must be in a flat level to eachother. 11 Options (subject to additional costs) The SW series can be equipped with two different types of systems to lock the HV moving contact in open and/or in closed positions. Both types are detailed below as well as the different available configurations. Locking systems Description Key lock system The keys can be removed only in locked positions (opened and/or closed) of the moving contact. The key rotation drives a rod that mechanically locks the movement of the HV moving contact. A change-over auxiliary switch indicates the locking status of the lock system. Electromagnet lock system The electromagnet activates a rod that locks the HV moving contact in a defined position (open and/or closed). When the electromagnet is energized, the main contact is unlocked and can then be operated. A change-over auxiliary switch indicates the locking status of the lock system. Manual lock (for manual operated device) For units operated manually and where no key lock nor locking electromagnet is selected to lock the SW in closed position, Sécheron for safety reason will systematically deliver the device equipped with a manually operated system locking the SW in closed position. When locked, an auxiliary switch will be activated which signal must be integrated by the customer in the control scheme to have the manual locking and SW closed position be interlocked. Locked positions of the HV moving contact These symbols show in which position the HV moving contact is locked: Closed position of the HV moving contact Open position of the HV moving contact in open position in closed position in open and closed positions Positions of the lock systems on the SW The key and electromagnet locks systems are located in upper position or lower position on the main plate. If only one lock system is selected, it will be always located in the lower position. If a second lock system is selected, it will be located in the upper position. The configuration table hereunder shows also where the chosen lock system is located according to your choice of lockings systems.
