2 The Tow Alarm System TS0540 is an integrated towing monitoring system. This system is capable of continuously monitoring data for display in the pilot house of the towing vessel, for alarm notification (visual and audible alarms), and for storage on the system computer for post-operation evaluation. The system is designed to monitor wind speed and direction, also vessel pitch, roll, and speed. In addition individual compartments on the towed vessel are monitored for fire and flooding conditions which, when activated, initiate visual and audible alarms on both the towed and towing vessels. During operation, the tug system components will receive power from the vessel s 120-volt AC system. The towed vessel components are designed to operate using five 24-volt DC battery packs being maintained by three solar panels and a wind generator. 3 ESSM - AL0541 TOWED VESSEL EQUIPMENT CASE Towed Vessel Equipment Case The Towed Vessel Equipment Case AL0541 contains a light bar and mast assembly. The light bar is used to provide visual alarm indications of fire and flooding aboard the towed vessel. The mast assembly collects wind speed and direction as well as GPS position information and sends it to the tow control unit. This information as well as fire and flooding status will be sent from the tow control unit via the radio antenna to the tug for viewing on the laptop. 9 ESSM - AL0544 TRANSMITTER AND REPEATER CASE Transmitter and Repeater Case The Transmitter and Repeater Case AL0544 holds flood and fire (high temperature) sensors plus five repeaters. Sensors are arranged in eight groups. Each group contains one low water sensor, one high water sensor, and one fire (high temperature) sensor. When placed properly in a space they provide accurate fire and flooding alarm information to the laptop aboard the towing vessel. The repeaters help pass the information from the lower decks to the tow control unit. The case also contains 10 spare batteries.
