Hydrodynamic oil lubricated sleeve bearings provide for long life and low vibration operation. These sleeve bearings can be replaced without removing the motor from its installation. For reversing rolling mill applications hydrostatic lift is provided to prevent bearing wear. Motor pictured is 2875 horsepower at 300/1080 rpm. 3 Super RPM DC Motor Enclosure Options DPFV TESV TEXP DPSV TEDC Air-To-Air Cooled TEFC TEDC Air-To-Water Cooled TENV DPFV - A long time industry standard designed to provide the proper quantity of filtered air to cool the motor windings and bearings. Clean-able filters are provided standard. TEDC-AW Totally enclosed Dual Cooled Air to Water-cooled motor. The TEDC-AW provides the ultimate in harsh environment protection. No air is exchanged from the internal motor air circuit to the external environment. This system provides an optional water control circuit to maximize brush life by maintaining the commutator at optimum temperature through cyclic load cycles.

4 Built To Last Unlimited DC Performance Unique laminated frame optimizes intercoil effectiveness and commutation when operated on rectified power. B1200, B1400, and B1600 frame motors use a V-ring commutator design, which bolts the commutator to the armature core. This provides exceptional dimensional and dynamic stability. TIG welded commutator connections ensure electrical and mechanical integrity. Field coils are layer wound (nested) to eliminate air pockets and associated hot spots. Field poles bolt securely to frame for proper axial alignment and uniform air gap, providing for accurate magnetic flux distribution. Pole face compensating windings and interpoles negate the effects of armature reaction to provide an improved torque to power ratio. Extended Life B1200, B1400, and B1600 frame motors have mounting feet that are integrated into the commutator end bracket and drive end bracket for maximum stiffness and superior load bearing capability in today s high shock, fast response drive system environments Solid, one-piece forged steel shaft, which transmits 600% rated torque output with minimal deflection, is standard on B1200, B1400, and B1600 frame motors and an option on all other Super RPM DC motors. Armature coils are bonded to the jumper support, to prevent movement between the riser and the coil. Motor insulation rated Class F composed of Class H materials B1200, B1400 and B1600 frame motor utilize a Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) insulation system to assure that the armature coils are void free. This insulation system incorporates a 100% solids epoxy resin. The armature is rotated during the curing process to maximize coverage. Mummified Coils: Reliance has introduced a premium system on our totally enclosed motors 960 through 1600 frame. Compensating coils are completely taped in a class H rated tape and bonded to the pole to form a coil that is protected against contamination. This mummification of the coil dramatically reduces the required maintenance and provides a robust system that withstands temperature, vibration and internal brush dust contamination Top-mounted blower is standard, with air flowing from the drive end to the commutator end, to prevent the carbon dust associated with normal brush wear from becoming entrapped in the windings. All Reliance enclosures are available for side mount. Multiple line welding and through bolts ensure high strength and rigidity while suppressing noise. Armature coils are locked in place with glass melamine slot wedges. These wedges are inserted into controlled notches in the laminations to minimize vibration of the armature tooth laminations. Exceptional Response Armature configuration is designed for an optimum torque-to-inertia ratio. As a result, high torque loads can be handled instantly, across the speed range. A unique bearing cartridge unit allows easy inspection or disassembly of the bearing system for reduced maintenance. B1200, B1400, and B1600 frames use roller bearings on both ends for radial loads and an auxiliary ball bearing on commutator end for armature axial alignment. Insulated bearing cartridges are standard.

5 19 Inspection caps permit a quick check of bearing condition. 6 Quality Tested And Application Proven From Start To Finish Every customized Reliance Super RPM DC motor solution is exhaustively tested to ensure dependable performance to application-specific requirements. Computer modeling of motor designs and lab testing of components and materials help ensure consistent, predictable operation. During the manufacturing process, additional tests are performed to verify compliance with world-class standards of quality and all applicable customer and industry specifications. Reliance Electric Large DC motor at a push/pull pickling line at a steel mill. Dynamometer testing verifies thermal characteristics and commutation limits. Every Reliance Super RPM DC motor is tested prior to shipment, to ensure compliance with every specified industrial and application requirement. CAD development of motor components prior to manufacture assure low vibration levels for the assembled motor. Vibration is recorded on both ends of every motor in the horizontal, vertical, and axial direction at field weakened speed as part of our routine motor test. A frame B845AT rated at 400 HP 300/1200 rpm, driving a paper machine winder. The DPSV enclosure is fitted with Lexan handhold covers that allow easy inspection of the commutator.

7 Entry end of 17-stand bar mill has nine HEAVY DUTY SUPER RPM DC Motors rated 1000 HP at 500/1200 rpm. Motors are totallyenclosed dual-cooled with air-to-water heat exchangers for protection from the harsh mill environment and are especially designed for horizontal and vertical wall mount with a rugged guard to protect the speed feedback device. A total of 3 B686 ATZ frame TEDC-AA 500 HP at 1150 rpm motors are load sharing on a varying conveyor load of coal. The variable speed capability of the conveyor belt allows smoother operation and longer life of the belt components.
