There are two major factors to consider: BB Chainstay geometry, and frame strength. Our motors are designed to mount to the bottom bracket of most bikes and we support all major standards: For BSA BBs (Threaded 68mm-120mm) ISCG-05 or ISGC-Old are recommended but not necessary. For Press fit BBs(BB-30, PF-30, BB92, BB102) an ISCG-05 mount is required. There are some frames with unusual geometries that present problems. A short chainstay may not have enough room for our drive gear and chainring. A narrow BB on a Fat or Fatty bike will present a bad chainline and lower gears may become unavailable. It is a good idea to ask us about your frame before you order your motor so that we can confirm installation will be without issue. Paradox Kinetics motors will propel bikes to speeds not typically attainable under pedal power, so it is important to select a frame that is sufficiently durable. We generally recommend higher-end mountain frames, particularly in the Enduro and DH categories. 1

2 Why doesn't the motor mount to my bike? Hermes and the associated BB Kits are designed to fit to all major BB standards and a variety of frame geometries. Certain BBs (such as those with floating ISCGs) and certain frames (such as those with link components in front of the BB) are not supported. How do you mount it on a fatbike? The same way it is mounted to other bikes. There are BB Kits for 100mm and 120mm BBs with which the motor can be mounted on a fat bike. Can i install it all by myself? Installation requires rebuilding the bicycle's bottom bracket. Special tools are required, and getting alignment correct is essential for having a safe and smooth ride. We recommend that installation be performed by a skilled bicycle technician who is sufficiently experienced that there is no concern of damage to the bike or the drive system. We offer training to bike shops that sell Paradox Kinetics motors. We offer phone support to individuals who wish to install on their own. Can i buy one and use it for all my bikes? Yes, will have to install and uninstall every time you switch bikes. What is the price of the kit? The maximum suggested retail price is 3189 including shipping. We accept paypal and direct transfer. You will have to pay in full before we can send you the Hermes kit. However we encourage you to speak with your local bike dealer about pricing and installation. How long does order fulfillment take? We send new motors to customers within two weeks from the date the order is placed. How can I pay? We accept Bank transfer (T/T) and Paypal. 2

The battery is Li-Ion 43.2V, 650Wh Where is the battery? The battery is in a backpack and it is connected with a wire under the saddle. Do you sell batteries? We sell a battery appropriate for use with Hermes with the kit. Can i buy a battery without buying the motor? Yes, you can buy a battery without buying the motor. Can I use a different battery than the one you provide? Hermes battery is specifically designed to be tough enough to endure the rigors of MTB riding and powerful enough to supply the Hermes motor. If you wish to use a different battery pack it must be a 12S Li-Ion pack supporting 40A continuous Discharge. 3

4 Why is the battery in a Backpack? Our main goal in designing our motors is to provide the best possible riding experience. We tested batteries on and off the frame, and we found that moving the weight from the frame to the rider provided better weight distribution, more responsive suspension, a more agile vehicle, and a more exciting ride! Can i put the battery somewhere on the bike instead of keeping it in the bag? We do not support this option yet. What is the weight of the battery? The weight of the battery is almost 3.8kg. Is the battery safe? Yes. We use Sanyo cells, full copper channels, balanced charging and discharging, and a hard case with shock absorbing silicone inserts separating the cells from the exterior. The case is IATA certified. Motor What materials is the motor made of? Hermes is made with carbon fiber composites, high grade aluminium and steel, and advanced engineering plastics. What are the specifications of the Motor? The motor is a 1500W Mid Drive. How much does it weigh? Including all the cables and bb kit it weighs 2.5kg. How fast can i go with Hermes? Bikes equipped with Hermes motor attain top speeds from 45 to 50 km/h How far can I go with Hermes? Depending on riding style and terrain, your ride will be between 20 and 60 km. 4

5 Kit What is included? The kit is all-inclusive! Motor, battery, charger, BB kit, backpack, and throttle. Do I need to get anything else to set up my bike with the motor? If you have a ready working bicycle, then the kit contains everything you need to convert it. Where is the throttle? The throttle is on the left side on the wheel. Can Hermes be adapted on a regular bike? Yes, it can be adapted on a regular bike, though we advise you not to. Hermes is specially made for mountain bikes. Do i have to pay separately for the backpack? The backpack is included in the price. Can i use the motor with a different battery? We strongly discourage using the motor with a battery other than the one specifically made for it. Use of a different battery is not supported and will void your warranty. Where is the cruise control? The cruise control is on the left side of the wheel. It is on the thumb throttle. It is a small black button that you push it and keep the speed steady. Is it a pedelec system? No, Hermes works with thumb throttle. 5

6 Installation and maintenance Do I need to order an extra long BB axle? The BB Kit includes a BB axle that is the correct length to mount the motor to your bike. How long does it take to install it? A first time installer may take up to an hour to install the motor, but an experienced mechanics who is familiar with installing our motors can typically install it in less than 30 minutes. What are the regular maintenance requirements? The chain and chainring should be replaced as would normally occur with a bike. The plastic gear should be replaced yearly or more frequently if it is damaged or shows elevated wear. The battery should be kept charged. If it is unused for long periods of time it should be charged every three months. Do i have to protect it from weather conditions? Our motor is tested in all weather conditions, mud, heat, rain, and snow. To keep the motor in good working order we recommend that you store it indoors in a cool dry place. Can i wash it? Yes. The motor should be cleaned regularly with a standard garden hose, especially after riding in dusty or muddy conditions. Warranty and refund If it gets stolen do you give a refund? Refund is not provided in case the motor or the bike gets stolen. Do you offer crash replacement? We offer special pricing for crash replacement. We require that the damaged motor be sent to us for evaluation. What is the warranty for the Motor? The warranty for the Hermes Motor (mechanical and electronic components) is 3 years. What is the warranty for the Battery? The warranty for the Hermes Battery is 2 years. 6

7 Safety Can I be harmed by the battery pack if I fall? Our backpack provides the maximum protection available. Protective gear is recommended when riding on the mountain with or without backpack. Is there any guide that will help me with my first rides? No special knowledge is required, you just plug the power and ride. The manual includes a section on how to drive Hermes equipped bikes, this includes correct use of the trail-mode and cruise control. Is it street legal? We currently do not offer a motor that complies with EU or US e-bike street regulations. Our products are for off-road private-track use only. Do you have a guide for beginners in emtb? You can find relevant information in the provided instruction manual. Is it safe for all ages? We do not recommend any person under the age of 18 ride a Hermes equipped bike. Can i buy it for my children? We do not recommend any person under the age of 18 ride a Hermes equipped bike. General Are there any other sources that i can read about you? Reviews etc? How does Hermes work? Hermes is a Battery powered electric mid drive with geared transmission. Can i test it before i buy it? Ask your local dealer for a test ride. 7

8 Can i use my backpack instead of yours? We provide a high quality backpack for use with the kit. It includes a wire for power transmission from the battery to the motor. It has good back support and is very functional and durable. If you wish to use your own bag you will have to modify it to include a power wire. We do not recommend or support this, use of a power wire other than the one provided by Paradox Kinetics may be dangerous and will void your warranty.
