Hazards Identification The rechargeable lithium-ion batteries described in this Product Safety Data Sheet are sealed units which are not hazardous when used according to the recommendations of the manufacturer and as long as their integrity is maintained. Do not short circuit, puncture, incinerate, crush, immerse in water, ce discharge or expose to temperatures above the declared operating temperature range of the product. Risk of fire or explosion. Under normal conditions of use, the active materials and liquid electrolyte contained in the cells and batteries are not exposed to the outside, provided the battery integrity is maintained and seals remain intact. Risk of exposure only in case of abuse (mechanical, thermal, electrical) which leads to the activation of safety valves and/or the rupture of the battery container. Electrolyte leakage, electrode materials reaction with moisture/water or battery vent/explosion/fire may follow, depending upon the circumstances.

Composition and Inmations on Ingredients Each cell consists of a hermetically sealed metallic container containing a number of chemicals and materials of construction of which the following could potentially be hazardous upon release. First Aid Measures In case of accumulator breakage or burst, please evacuate employees from the contaminated area and ensure maximal ventilation in order to break-up corrosive gas, smoke and unpleasant odors. If it occurs, by accident, following measures must be taken: Inhalation Skin Contact Eye Contact Ingestion Further treatment Remove from exposure, rest and keep warm. In severe cases obtain medical attention. Wash off skin thoroughly with water. Remove contaminated clothing and wash bee re-use. In severe cases obtain medical attention. Irrigate thoroughly with water at least 15 minutes. Obtain medical attention. Wash out mouth thoroughly with water and give plenty of water to drink. Obtain medical attention. All cases of eye contamination, persistent skin irritation and casualities who have swallowed this substance or been affected by breathing its vapours should be seen by a doctor.

3 3/6 5. Fire Fighting Measures Dry chemical type or CO2 extinguishers or, Halon, or copious quantities of water or water-based foam, can be used to cool down burning Li-Ion cells and batteries. During water application, caution should be exercised as burning pieces may be ejected from the fire. In case of fire, it is recommended to wear self-contained breathing apparatus, to avoid contact with irritant fumes. Evacuate all persons from immediate area of fire. Do not re-enter the area until it has been adequately purged of the fire vapour and extinguishing agent. 6. Accidental Release Measures Remove personnel from area until fumes dissipate. Do not breathe vapours or touch liquid with bare hands. If the skin has come into contact with the electrolyte, it should be washed thoroughly with water. Using gloves and protective glasses, sand or earth should be used to absorb any exuded material. Seal leaking battery (unless hot) and contaminated absorbent material in plastic bag and dispose of as Special Waste in accordance with local regulations. 7. Precautions safe Handling and Use Storage: Handling: Other: Disposal: Store in a cool (preferable below 30 C), well venti lated area, away from moisture, sources of heat, open flames, food and drink. Elevated temperatures can result in shortened battery life. Temperautes above 70 C may result in battery leakage and rupture. Keep adequate clearance between walls and batteries. Since short circuit can cause burn, leakage and rupture hazard, keep batteries in original packaging until use and do not jumble them. Do not crush, pierce, short (+) and (-) battery terminals with conductive (i.e. metal) goods, which would end up into excessive heating. Do not directly heat or solder. Do not throw into fire. Do not mix batteries of different types and brands. Do not mix new and used batteries. Keep batteries in non conductive (i.e. plastic) trays. Do not disassemble, mutilate or mechanically abuse cells and batteries. Follow Manufacturers recommendations regarding maximum recommended currents and operating temperature range. Applying pressure on deming the battery may lead to disassembly followed by eye, skin and throat irritation. Do not immerse in water. The Li-ion cells and batteries are not designed to be recharged from external power sources besides specific Li-ion charger models approved by Ansmann. Connecting to inappropriate power supplies can result in fire or explosion. Dispose in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations. 8. Disposal Considerations Do not incinerate, or subject Li-CO 2 (Li-MnO 2 ) cells to temperatures in excess of 140 C (70 C). Such abuse can result in loss of seal, leakage and/or cell explosion. Dispose of or recycle in accordance with appropriate local regulations.

5 5/6 USA: Lithium-Ion batteries are classified by the federal government as non-hazardous waste and are safe disposal in the normal municipal waste stream. These batteries, however, do contain recyclable materials and are accepted recycling by the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation's (RPBC) Battery Recycling Program. In the European Union, manufacturing, handling and disposal of batteries is regulated on the basis of the DIRECTIVE 2006/66/EC OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 6 September 2006 on batteries and accumulators and waste batteries and accumulators and repealing Directive 91/157/EEC. Customers find detailed inmation on disposal in their specific countries using the web site of the European Portable Batteries Association ( Importers and users outside EU should consider the local law and rules 14. Transport Inmation In general, the transportation of lithium-ion cells and batteries is regulated by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG) and the US Department of Transportation. Li-ion batteries are classified in class 9 - miscellaneous dangerous goods as: - UN 3480, Li-ion batteries - UN 3481, Lithium ion batteries contained in equipment, or - UN 3481, Lithium ion batteries packed with equipment. In the absence of exceptions, these batteries must be shipped in quantities that comply with the limitations contained in the Regulations (see DGR Table 4.2). Also, they must be contained in specification packaging prescribed by the ICAO Technical Instructions and IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations. A completed package must display a Class 9 hazard label in addition to markings that identify the applicable proper shipping name and UN number. A shipper must document the shipment using a Shipper s Declaration Dangerous Goods. Exceptions: Small lithium ion cells ( 20Wh) or batteries ( 100Wh) are excepted from most of the requirements of the ICAO Technical Instructions and IATA DGR, International Maritime Dangerous Code (IMDG) and Requirements of U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), provided that they comply with all of the requirements set out in Section II of Packing Instructions 965, 966 and 967 lithium ion batteries in the 52nd Edition of the IATA DGR, Special Provision 188, 230, 310, 957 of the IMDG and special provision 185 and 188 of DOT 49 CFR 173. The minimum requirements necessary to transport as non-restricted goods are as follows: 1) For lithium ion cells, the Watt-hour rating is not more than 20 Wh. For lithium ion batteries, the Watt-hour rating is not more than 100 Wh. The Watt-hour rating must be marked on the outside of the battery case except those manufactured bee 1 January ) Each cell or battery is of the type proven to meet the requirement of each test in the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, Part III, sub-section 38.3, 5th revised edition. 3) A battery handling label must be displayed on each package. A telephone number must be printed on on the label additional inmation. 4) Each consignment must be accompanied by a document transport* with an indication that: - the package contains lithium ion cells or batteries; - the package must be handled with care and that a flammability hazard exists if the package is damaged; - special procedure should be followed in the event the package is damaged, to include inspection and repackaging if necessary; and a telephone number additional inmation. For air transport, the words "NOT RESTRICTED - NO DANGEROUS GOODS TRANSPORT, according IATA Packing instruction Part 1 Lithium Ion Batteries" must be indicated on the air waybill Note: When manufacturing a new battery pack, one must assure that it is also tested in accordance with the UN Model Regulations, Manual of Tests and Criteria, Part III subsection 38.3 The inmation if the shipment is Dangerous Goods restricted or non restricted is stated in the transport documents (way bill)

6 6/6 Label Conveyance: For the single cell batteries and multicell battery packs that are non-restricted to transport (non-assigned to the Miscellaneous Class 9), use Lithium-Ion Batteries Inside label. For the single cell batteries and multicell battery packs which are restricted to transport (assigned to Class 9), use Class 9 Miscellaneous Dangerous Goods and UN Identification Number labels. In all cases, refer to the product transport certificate issued by the manufacturer.
