19 UITP Bus Committee Activities on further SORT development Standardised On; Road Test Cycles (SORT) Developed by the UITP Bus Committee in collaboration with bus manufacturers. Addressing the lack of comparable information on bus fuel consumption Allow to compare offers during a call for tenders UITP Bus Committee SORT WG has developed new SORT;Hy for hybrids on by 28 th February validation on 18 th April Launch UITP World Conference 26 th ; 30 th May New version for electric busses SORT;E in development on by 2013

20 Outlook : Computer simulation as currently developed within the EC Measurement of CO2 Emissions Preparations Future perspectives of computer simulation opens door to simulate consumption data for buses of any kind of size. Why not? 2 requirements are essential for the purchaser of new buses: 1. To be able to compare at tender stage the consumption data 2. To be able to check such initially provided SORT values For UITP and its members it was important to coordinate SORT and the current EC preparations

22 Coordination between UITP SORT and ACEA Six meetings in 2011 and 2012 Major Bus manufacturers (through ACEA, coordination Daimler Evobus), ZF/Voith and UITP Bus Committee o Comparison of extensive ZF/Voith operational data (from 60 largest city bus operators in EU) with SORT cycles very close o Findings were provided as input in ACEA works and LOT 2 study
