1 ARTERIAL BRT OVERVIEW Key Question: Could arterial Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) routes improve near-term mobility in the northwest area until rail can be built? Key Findings: 6 arterial BRT routes have been recommended Stakeholders recommend SH 119 as top priority The 6 routes provide approximately 105 miles of improved service that connects northwest area communities and FasTracks Lines (Northwest Rail, North Metro and US 36 BRT) In 2035, 27,800 to 28,800 daily boardings are projected for the 6 routes All 6 routes would cost approximately $340M to implement (not including operating costs) Funding does not currently exist for any arterial BRT routes and a funding plan will need to be developed as part of this study

2 WHAT IS ARTERIAL BRT? Purpose Interim service to connect cities within the northwest area with more efficient and effective bus service. 6 S.BOULDER ROAD BRT AT A GLANCE Starts/Ends: Table Mesa Park-n-Ride in Boulder to Lafayette Park-n-Ride (buses would continue on improved 28th St. and Broadway to the Boulder Transit Center and Boulder Transit Village) Length: 17.4 miles (18% in dedicated lanes, 30% bus on shoulder) 2035 Travel Time (Start to End): 21 minutes (7 minutes faster than bus without improvements / 3 minutes slower than auto) Number of Stations: 69 Projected 2035 Boardings: 4,300 Estimated Capital Cost: $40.8M (system improvements to Broadway and 28th St. are an additional $22.2M) Connects to (BTC), (BTV) and Table Mesa from Lafayette and Louisville Improvements to Broadway & 28th Street provide connection and benefits to other Boulder bus services including US 36 BRT

10 ARTERIAL BRT RECOMMENDATIONS Determine priority of corridors for implementation Stakeholder group is recommending SH 119 as the first priority Implement these corridors as near-term mobility improvements prior to rail Wherever possible, build infrastructure in a way that it can also be used for rail in the future (e.g. stations, Park-n-Rides) The above renderings depict conceptual designs for enhanced BRT stations.
