2 Design of AC-Servo-Linearactuators Series MA Advantages of Servo-Linearactuators Servo-Linearactuators adds to Vues' portfolio of Linear Systems a palet of very compact direct drive components for short strokes in conjunction with very high thrust forces. The user is offered a bunch of benefits compared to conventional Systems with pneumatics or with hydraulics: Energy saving Lower installation and running costs by the use of less expensive (electrical) energy for the drive compared to pneumatic and hycdraulic systems. Higher flexibility The scope of control given in a servo system provides much better positioning, coming along with higher accuracy which is a vital requirement of flexible production cells. Advanced control of force Excellent control of forces, and linearity of force increase. This ensures a force build-up without delay, and avoids non-linear dependencies of thrust force and actuator positions. More powerful drive unit The overload capacity of a servo-system allows to compensate short time incidents (peak forces). Also the Servoactuator must not be designed with regard to peak force (as in pneumatic,) but only according to effective load of the application.

3 The Servo-Linearactuator forms a linear movement from the rotative movement of a servomotor. The shape of the actuator is orientated on the design of conventional pneumatic- and hydraulic cylinders and therefore often allows an easy replacement or retro fitting of existing systems. The customer is opened up an actuator solution with a stroke up to 350 mm within 3 motor sizes with effective thrust forces from 630 N to 24,400 N. The screw nut of this hollow shaft servomotor is integrated in the front side of the motor inside the rotor. The rotor position is detected by a feedback system which allows commutation and speed, and as well can be used as position feedback for the stroke movement. Via grease channel it is possible to connect an automatic lubrication unit, which is essential for a continuous operation with high durability. Acutators with resolvers as feedback system can be moved (in power-off mode) by turning a hex-tool on the rear motor side.
