CFW PowerCable Redefining EMC TN-S - the induction-free, low-radiation installation cable

The CFW PowerCable Patent / Design Brugg Cables Switzerland The CFW PowerCable -patent is based on a totally new understanding of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC). It has been found that many interference problems in electronic equipment are directly related to anomalies in electrical installation. The CFW PowerCable converts electrical heavy-current connections into harmless cable sections with astounding EMC-properties by substituting all single conductors and bus bars Cable sheath, e.g. PUR 2 Conductor insulation, e.g. EPR 3 Outer conductors (L1, L2, L3+N), fine-stranded wires, numbered, symmetrically wrapped around ground conductor 4 Central PE conductor, fine-stranded wires with reduced cross-section 5 Drain wires for the precise positioning of outer conductors 2

Quality at an affordable price The CFW PowerCable TM is the ideal heavy-current cable for connected loads of 50 KVA and higher and is therefore the perfect basis for EMC-conformant electrical installations. The patented CFW PowerCable design prevents both internal and external induction voltages, induction between conductors, and solves interference problems in conventional installations at one go. The CFW PowerCable sets new standards in electrical installation. The stranded arrangement of the outer conductors attenuates magnetic field emission many times over compared to single conductors or bus bars. There is no longer a need to maintain minimum distances from sensitive equipment, e.g. MRTs, ECG and EEG measuring instruments. There are no restrictions when it comes to laying CFW PowerCables in parallel and operating them to transmit high levels of electrical power. It is not possible to distribute different amounts of current on the same outer conductors due to the danger of cable overheating. Besides excellent mechanical properties, the CFW PowerCable is highly flexible and this helps to save time and simplify installation, even in confined spaces. These outstanding properties also help to reduce installation costs quite considerably when CFW Power- Cable is used. 3

CFW PowerCable Design and mechanical properties The absolutely symmetrical arrangement of the current-carrying outer conductors in relation to the centrally routed PE-conductor prevents all types of induction and ground-loop currents. This relegates local increases in magnetic fields and corrosion damage to the surrounding building structures to the past. The reduced PE conductor cross-section reduces the distances between outer conductors, cable emissions, and weight at the same time. The compact, flexible construction of the CFW PowerCable means it is so simple and spacesaving to route cables to junction boxes or lay cable around 90 corners, if necessary. When the CFW PowerCable is hooked up to a low-current main distributor, the extreme flexibility of the wires really comes into play. Even in confined spaces, the fine-wired, flexible copper cables are capable of small bending radii. There are no restrictions to routing data cables and CFW PowerCable in parallel or crossed without the need for any additional EMC measures. 4

CFW PowerCable Top measuring results High ground-equalization currents, inexplicable interferences, increased magnetic fields at the workplace, and dangerous corrosion damage to metal structures - in the majority of cases, these problems can be traced to obsolete or outdated heavy-current installations. As tests in our laboratory and at customer premises show, this type of "malfunction" becomes a thing of the past with CFW PowerCable. Test circuit Single conductor CFW PowerCable Induction current, Induction current, Layout Cable type Remark r = 1.0m Single conductor CFW PowerCable This graphic illustrates the advantages of the CFW PowerCable compared to conventional electrical cables with single conductors or bus bars. CFW PowerCable Troubleshooting with excellent properties CFW PowerCable Distance to cable (m) Single conductor laid in parallel The graphic shows the magnetic field emissions generated in a conventional parallel-routed configuration compared to CFW PowerCable, dependent on the distance to the cable. It can be clearly seen that the radiated field strength of the CFW PowerCable drops to negligible values within a short distance from the cable. 5

CFW PowerCable Unlimited applications Due to its excellent properties, the CFW PowerCable is highly suited for use in hospitals and in buildings where Research & Development work is conducted. In addition, the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, office, commercial, and industrial buildings, public buildings, and computer centers can all rely on the exclusive properties of the CFW PowerCable. Intelligent, no-problem cable routing with no EMF radiation CFW PowerCables can be routed close to people and/or highly sensitive equipment without restriction. By comparison, conventional heavy-current cables emit high EMF radiation. Here, it is vital to maintain a minimum distance. 6

CFW PowerCable Comparison with conventional cable configurations The impressive advantages of CFW PowerCable Prevents interference caused by electromagnetic emissions affecting computer systems, medical equipment, electronic systems, etc. Prevents corrosion damage caused by induced alternating currents affecting contact points, gas and water pipes, iron reinforcements, etc. Prevents the falsification of measurements caused by locally unexpected increases in magnetic fields during laboratory and research work, medical examinations, etc. Reduces cable losses and installation and operating costs considerably. The serious disadvantages of conventional heavy-current cable routes A The high electromagnetic emissions along the entire cable route cause EMC problems in computer systems, medical equipment, electronic systems, etc. Induced alternating and ground-loop currents (see graphic A) cause corrosion damage at contact points, gas and water pipes (Figure B), iron reinforcements, etc. Locally unexpected increases in magnetic fields falsify measurements in laboratory and research work, medical examinations, etc. Single conductors and bus bars increase transmission losses and raise installation and operating costs considerably. B Corrosion damage by induced alternating currents 7

CFW PowerCable - Convincing customer benefit As a result of the patented, symmetrical design, the CFW PowerCable is free from induction currents and has practically no radiation. This makes it an ideal cable for use in sensitive environments, such as clinics and hospitals, in research & development centers, the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, computer centers, schools, universities, etc. The CFW PowerCable converts electrical heavy-current cable routes into harmless cable sections with astounding EMC properties by substituting all single conductors and bus bars. Resources for additional EMC measures are reduced many times over; expensive cabling detours and/ or shielding measures are unnecessary. No more premature damage to buildings and equipment, or the associated costs and dangers caused by emissions or ground return currents. Research and test results are not falsified or influenced by unexpected magnetic field increases caused by ground-loop currents. Minimum distances to data cables, sensitive electronic equipment, bedrooms, living rooms, or workplaces are no longer relevant. Installation resources for electrical energy transmission are reduced by up to 80%; total costs are reduced by up to 20% compared to single conductors and/or bus bars. Energy costs resulting from cable losses are reduced by up to 50%. CFW PowerCable - the ground-breaking new TN-S installation cable for clean, no-problem and efficient distribution of electrical energy. If the magnetic field is created by an electromagnet, what happens if we keep it stationary but vary its strength by changing the current through it? If a moving electron in a magnetic field experiences a force pushing on it at right angles to its motion, what happens when we take a copper wire (with lots of easily dislodged electrons in it) and move
