The vessel is propelled by a high voltage diesel electrical propulsion system. The electrical power is generated in the forward machinery spaces of the vessel, whilst the electrical propulsion motors are situated in the machinery spaces. The forward and stern machinery spaces are interconnected with a pipe tunnel with an approximate length of 100 m,through which the main electrical cable systems are led. The power is generated by two (2) main HV diesel generator sets for propulsion, whilst the low voltage system is generated by one (1) auxiliary two (2) emergency and two (2) cargo diesel generator sets. On 6 th December 2006 the ship Mighty Servant 3 sank, following a submerged discharge off Luanda, Angola in about 60 m of water. Following salvage of the vessel by SMIT the electrical system was assumed to have suffered unrecoverable damage and complete removal and reinstallation of electrical wiring and related components was deemed necessary. The vessel was submerged in seawater at a depth of approximately 60m for over 6 months. The original electrical system of the vessel was installed during the new building of the vessel in 1983 and was of general Japanese make Teresaki. These systems were considered outdated and components were no longer available, and new regulations were in place with respect to selection of replacement equipment & materials. Page 1 of 13

2 Generally all the electrical wiring (approx. 150 km with about 40,000 terminations) and equipment had to be completely renewed. (power generation, transformers switchboards, control and monitoring panels, navigation and radio equipment, lighting, junction boxes, motors etc.) The ship was delivered to the ship yard by the salvers in a dead ship state and when all reinstatement had been completed was to be delivered to the owners in a seaworthy condition safely afloat at the shipyard berth with all trading certificates. 3 Classification and Regulations Classification The ship including its hull, machinery and equipment had to be re-built to Lloyds Register Rules (Classification Society). The ship is registered under Netherlands Antilles flag. Regulations. 4 Vessel reinstatement R & B Switchgear Ltd were selected by the owners of the vessel Dockwise BV as one of the preferred electrical contractors for reinstatement of the vessel, and in November 2007 R & B switchgear were awarded an $18 million contract by the shipyard for the design, re-engineering and integration of all the ships electrical systems, including supply, supervision of installation, commissioning and project management including manufacture of the HV and LV control panels at R & B Switchgear facility in Greater Manchester. The R & B project scope included the following electrical equipment. Power generation Two - Replacement main generators sets each rated for 6000 volts, 6500 kw, 60 Hz supply. One - Replacement Auxiliary diesel generator set rated for 440V,3ph, 850kW, 60Hz, 1800rpm One - Replacement Emergency diesel generator set rated for440v,3ph, 190kW, 60Hz, 1800rpm Two - Replacement Cargo diesel generator sets each rated for440v,3ph, 190kW, 60Hz, 1800rpm Two - Replacement main transformers each rated for 6000/440V, 1100KVA,106/1411 A Four - Replacement auxiliary transformers each rated for 450/225 V, 80/154A, 60 Hz. Four - Replacement emergency, light and accommodation transformers each rated for 450/225 V, 7.5 KVA, 29/58A,60 Hz. Power distribution One - Replacement high voltage switchboard comprising : 11 vacuum breakers. Automatic voltage regulator for the two main generators. Synchronisation unit for the two main generators. Load balance unit for two main generators. High voltage safety equipment. Two - Ships bow thrusters motors each 6000v, 500KVA,60 Hz, 1200 stroke 329 rpm repair and rewind. - Replacement auxiliary motors and starters for pumps, winches, fans and compressors. Alarms and Monitoring - Engine room alarm and monitoring systems in accordance with requirements and regulations of Lloyds register of shipping for the notation unmanned machinery spaces The alarm and monitoring system was provided with 1500 I/Os located within the engine room with slave units located within the wheel house and Chief Engineers cabin and monitoring/alarm in the officers dining room, officers lounge, second and third engineers cabins. All main machinery and equipment controlled from an integrated control system located in the engine control room, with facilities for local control of all machinery. Automatic controls and instrumentation having been integrated into the alarm and monitoring console.
