2 Zinc-Air Battery Power is generated by the reaction of zinc gel (anodic material) and atmospheric oxygen (cathode). Oxygen is actively transported into the battery through MEA(Membrane Electrode Assembly). The whole battery volume is filled only with zinc, the anodic material, so the capacity is very high.

5 MEA(Membrane Electrode Assembly) Ak key component composite membrane consisted by carbon, polymer and metal, and have multiple functions like, facilitates the transportation of atmospheric oxygen into the battery as an ionic oxygen form. to collect current from the reaction of zinc and oxygen ions. to inhibit the leak of the electrolyte.

6 Problems of Current Technology Large amount of hazardous mercury (Hg) should be added to the zinc gel to ensure the anodic material conductivity. Cannot used for high current drain devices because of the limited oxygen transfer rate with the poor performance of MEA. 11 IPP (Infantry Portable Power) IPP (Infantry Portable Power) zinc-air primary battery is a revolutionary energy solution for military applications. With the size of a common military rifle clip, when in use simply the case is opened to expose individual battery cells. Designed to operate almost every field device such as radio, night vision, field laptop and GPS systems. Two IPP can provide sufficient power for field radio transmitter. Compare to the ordinary batteries, with the benefits of zinc-air technology, an IPP can provide over 10,000 mah capacity with 7.2 volts. Also, almost no self discharge exists, it can be stored up to 10 years. When necessary two or three IPP can be connected to provide higher voltage.
