Use Silence Most people won t be able to pull this off very easily, but if you are feeling like a rockstar during your next presentation, opt for silence. Say a few words then be quiet. Say a few more words then be quiet. It s a quick and easy way to own the room. Just make sure you can hold your composure. 2. Point to the Future or Past I have two simple statements for you: -Prospective (looking to the future): 30 Years from now, your job won t exist. -Retrospective (looking to the past): In 1970, Japan owned 9% of the market. Today, they own 37%. The reality is that looking into the future or past always sparks engagement since that s where our hearts live. 3. Quote Someone The easiest way to open a talk is simply to quote someone. Think about that last presenter you heard when they opened their talk with a quote from Albert Einstein or Napoleon. A quote equals instant credibility. 4. Share Something Extraordinary I don t know about you, but I love Snapple. Even more so, I love their bottle caps since they always share fun facts or extraordinary insight into ordinary things. Is my life going to be improved because I know how many times a bee s wings flaps in a second? No. Is it crazy interesting? Yes. 5. Tell a Story Here s the amazing thing about stories: If your presentation is based solely on facts and stats then your audience is going to react in one of two ways: 1) agree or 2) disagree. However, if you tell a story, your audience will participate with you. Still not sold? Stories have been known to increase audience retention by up to 26%.

9 Paris / Smog March 17 th, 2014 PARIS -- With the City of Light buried under a thick blanket of smog for a week now, authorities in the French capital took drastic steps Monday to cut the number of cars on the road and to encourage commuters to find more environmentally friendly ways of getting to work. Only cars with license plates ending in an odd number were allowed on to Paris streets during the day. Drivers with plates ending in an even number were ordered to leave their vehicles at home and use public transport, which officials have made free of charge since Friday to try to reduce pollution -- at a cost of $5.6 million a day. 28 BEV s in 3 years cheaper than combustion cars? Volkswagen prediction Electric cars will be cheaper than combustion cars within three years. This reports the German car company Volkswagen. The rapidly falling price of batteries according to the company is the main reason. "We expect that the cost per kilowatt of capacity of lithium-ion batteries will soon drop to a size of approximately 100 Euro. This limit will be in reached in 2015 or at the latest shortly afterwards said Rudolf Krebs, chief of the department in Volkswagen which produces electric cars. The price of 100 per kilowatt applies as the limit where electric cars become cheaper than their petrol or diesel counterpart, taking into account acquisition and use. At present, the price of a battery pack is at 500 Euro per kilowatt hour. For a battery pack of 26.5 kilowatt hours, as the Volkswagen Golf Blue e-motion,you will pay about At 100 per kilowatt the price for the same package drops to 2,650. The prediction of Mr. Krebs is more optimistic than previous estimates of the automotive industry. According to other groups it takes at least five years longer before the battery limit of 100 per kilowatt will be achieved. The program consists of three parts: Mitsubishi imiev electric cars were commissioned by the Ministry of Social Affairs as an example, 2. the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications developed a support system for natural and legal persons for acquisition of electric cars 3. infrastructure for charging electric cars was created to cover the whole country.
