The Smart Wallbox will charge electric vehicles or hybrid vehicles with a Type 1 plug (BMW, Nissan, Audi...) or a Type 2 plug (Tesla, Renault, Mercedes,...) Yes the Smart Wallbox can charge a Tesla too! Tesla chargers can only charge Tesla cars even though they're the same plug if you try to charge a Mercedes Benz EV with the Tesla fast charger the plug will fit but it will not charge the car as they've put configured it only for Tesla. (same strategy as Apple) What are the most common plug types and can the Smart Wallbox adapt to both? There are 2 most common plug types in Australia. Type 1 Alternate names: J1772, SAE J1772 In Australia, this is the plug standard used by BMW, Nissan, Porsche, Mercedes, Volvo and Mitsubishi. It is the plug standard in North America and Japan. Type 2 (Alternate names: IEC 219, Mennekes) In Australia, this plug standard is currently used by Tesla and Renault. It is capable of -Phase charging allowing it to charge vehicles much faster if -Phase power is avaliable. It is the plug standard for all of Europe. The Smart Wallbox comes with either an attached cable to it (to charge type 1 or type 2 cars). Otherwise we sell cables as a spare part for type 1 or type 2.

Electric cars have evolved a long way from the early days of the 20th century. Currently the tesla model s has a range of 480 KMS on a single charge and global car manufacturers are continually achieving improvements in range with research and development. What is the charging speed? The charging speed depends on the capacity of the car charger and amount of power the charging station can supply. The car charger transforms the AC current coming from the Smart wallbox to DC current to charge the car's battery. The bigger the charger the faster it is to charge your battery. Most chargers today are only.7kw but this is evolving rapidly with the Tesla Model S for instance having a 22kW car charger. The Smart Wallbox is an AC charger and can charge the car at a max current of 2A ph. > To charge a Nissan Leaf for instance which has a 24kWh battery but a.7kw charger (150 km range) it will take.5hr for a full charge with the Smart Wallbox 7kW/22kW. > To charge a Tesla Model S which has a 100kWh battery and 22kW charger (400 to 00km range) it will take 1.5hr with Smart wallbox 1ph 2A but only 4.5hr in ph 22kW Smart Wallbox and 2A.
