2 Purpose of the seminar The target is to introduce international activities in European fuel cell sector and activate cooperation. Market introduction of fuel cell technologies is a question to follow. Invited programs represent advanced ones having links to Finnish activities in research or company level. FCH JU, Denmark, Germany, Sweden and Estonia Projects are presented in poster format DM

3 Fuel Cell Programme* Programme studies, exploits and commercialises fuel cell technology. Programme duration: Programme volume: 144 million euros, of which Tekes finances approx. 50 million euros Further information: * in 2007

4 Vision* Finnish industry will develop products and services based on fuel cell technology for global markets. This will take place in cooperation with foreign technology partners, the research community and the Finnish government. The priority areas are stationary and portable fuel cell applications and working machines with fuel cell power modules. * in 2007

5 Mission* The Programme will improve the level of fuel cell research in Finland. It will create new business for Finnish companies by applying fuel cell technology rapidly and by utilising international cooperation frameworks. The Programme will encourage cooperation between the various players through new supply chains and networks. * in 2007

6 Program status 2010 Mid term evaluation suggested more focused program Three major topics selected: stationary, working machines and really small FC applications - DEMO2013 in mind International cooperation Active participation on FCH JU program calls. 6 projects have been co financed by the Tekes Program Bilateral cooperation Nordic countries, Germany, North America has increased National level Value chains exist for major topic areas and are developed in specific workshops Hydrogen production: yes, H2 infrastructure, discussion has started. FCVs are coming 2015 Budget wise: Program value is around 50 M, Tekes share 29 M DM

10 Next steps Demo2013 guides our future actions FC applications are developed by the industry and backed by the research projects: The Program well comes new industrial initiatives/applications Hydrogen infra in Finland vision to be developed and concrete plans for first station(s) exist, business case formulation by firms Final aim is to accelerate market entry of fuel cells and hydrogen technologies. More work is needed towards customer and social acceptance of these technologies. Comprehensive demonstration activities are needed in community level. New financing arrangements and forms of cooperation are under preparation. DM
