4 Problem Statement Higher levels of vehicle automation are our best hope to reverse the trend of increasing fatalities and delay. Automation of vehicles is not a question of if, but rather a question of when and how. To accelerate vehicle automation, Roadway Owner/Operators must prepare their infrastructure. Economic competitiveness requires that we continue to innovate in dramatic ways in transportation.
