1 PAP battery kit and Respiratory battery kit FAQ General questions 1. Does the patient need a prescription to purchase this device since it is FDA listed accessory? a. There is no prescription required to purchase either the PAP battery kit, or the Respiratory battery kit. 2. Does the user manual mention to not submerge the battery pack in water? a. Yes. PAP battery kit user manual, refer to page 2; Respiratory battery kit user manual, refer to page 2 as well. Both user manuals state the following: Do not submerge the battery pack in water or any other liquid. 3. Can 2 batteries be used at the same time to power 1 PAP device? a. No. The lithium ion battery pack does not have this capability. Compare life cycle and run time of this battery pack to the competitor s battery pack. 4. Will it be added to the MAP internet pricing policy? a. Yes. 5. Can the VA order the battery since it is manufactured and labeled Made in China? a. The VA can order the battery pack. Is the device in ship mode and at what percent? a. It is in a ship mode. Connecting the battery pack to mains power with a power supply will take it out of ship mode. It is estimated to be at a 30% charge when it arrives in the Philips Respironics warehouse. 2. When I first open my battery pack and turn it on the LED lights blink, why? a. This shows the battery pack is out of ship mode. 3. Why is there a Velcro strap on the cable? a. To ensure the battery pack remains plugged in. There is also a per pound pull force the Trilogy cable is required to meet. 4. The "on" button was pushed right out of the package and no lights lit. Is the device not charged? a. Connect the battery pack to the power supply and mains power and allow it to charge for 3 hours.

If no LEDs light after attempting to charge the battery pack and you are a homecare provider, call Philips Respironics customer service, , to receive an RA number. Charging the battery pack 1. Does the battery only charge by a 110V AC outlet, or can the battery also be recharged by a 12V DC source, like the cigarette lighter on your car or truck? a. Philips Respironics does not recommend charging the battery pack by a 12V DC source. This could take too much current and possibly drain the car/truck battery. We recommend you use mains power to charge the battery pack. 2. How long does it take to reach full charge? a. 3 hours 3. How long does it take to charge a dead battery? a. 3 hours 4. Which power supply offered by Philips Respironics will charge the PAP and Respiratory battery kits? a. PAP battery kit: Utilizes the PAP patient s sleep therapy device power supply. (Including DreamStation, System One 60 series, and System One 50 series.) b. Respiratory battery kit: A 65W power supply is included in the packaging. c. The battery pack can be charged by either the 60W, 65W, or 80W power supplies available by Philips Respironics. 5. When I push the button to see the charge level by how many of the LEDs are lit, all 5 are solid green. But then when I plug the battery pack in to charge it, 4 LEDs are solid and the 5 th is blinking. Doesn t solid green on all 5 LEDs mean the battery pack is fully 100% charged? a. When the battery pack is not plugged in, it is always discharging even a little bit. To keep you from always wanting/needing to charge it, it is designed to go down to nearly 80% charge and still be considered charged enough when not plugged in. However, when you plug it in to charge it, it won t show 5 LEDs until it is 100% charged so that you can see the actual charge status. 6. Why does the Respiratory battery kit cable cover the input for the power supply when the battery pack is connected to a Trilogy? a. The uninterruptible power supply (UPS) feature is not available for use with the Respiratory battery kit and Trilogy. The electrical standards do not allow 2 devices to be connected to mains power at the same time the 2 devices are connected to each other.

3 Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) mode 1. Can I leave my battery pack in the carry case while using it in UPS mode? a. It is not recommended to use the carry bag to hold the battery pack while in UPS mode. 2. Can I place my DreamStation, or System One, sleep therapy device on top of the battery while using both? a. No, this is not recommended. Refer to your DreamStation, or System One, sleep therapy device patient or clinical manual on where the device can be placed. 3. Can I use the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) feature with Trilogy? a. The uninterruptible power supply (UPS) feature is not available for use with the Respiratory battery kit and Trilogy. The electrical standards do not allow 2 devices to be connected to mains power at the same time the 2 devices are connected to each other. 4. Does the DreamStation and System One heated humidification remain on when the battery pack is in UPS mode? a. Yes it does remain on. To lengthen the battery life for the night, turn off heated humidification. 5. What occurs when the power comes back on? a. When the power comes back on the battery pack reverts back to pass thru mode and provides power directly from the AC power supply to the sleep therapy device. If heated humidification was left on, the DreamStation will continue in heated humidification mode. Using the battery pack 1. How long can the battery pack be used to power my therapy device? a. Sleep therapy device - Up to 14 hours with no humidification i. Run time test conditions: CPAP mode, pressure 10 cm H2O, no heated humidification or heated tubing. ii. Use of heated humidification or heated tubing significantly reduces the run time of the battery pack. b. Trilogy >8 hours i. Customer s sometimes request a letter written by Philips Respironics stating battery pack compliance of the FAA requirement. a. Yes there is a letter available. 4. Can I leave my device cable plugged in to the battery pack when not in use? a. Leaving the device cable plugged in to the battery pack without plugging it into mains power will drain the battery pack power. Car travel 1. Will a 12V DC source, like the cigarette lighter on your car or truck, charge a battery pack? a. We are suggesting they do not do that because the car battery would get drained. This can occur with any type of lithium ion battery pack designed to power a CPAP. 2. What if the car was running? a. Even with the car running it can still drain the car battery. This can occur with any type of lithium ion battery pack designed to power a sleep therapy device. 3. Which of the components that come in the packaging can I purchase separately? a. All components that come with the lithium ion battery pack can be purchased separately as a replacement part. Refer to the price list. Shipping the battery pack 1. If needed, how do I send a lithium ion battery pack to Philips Respironics? a. We recommend you keep the packaging the battery pack came in just in case you need to ship it back to Philips Respironics, or somewhere else. Disposal 1. When do I replace the battery pack? a. When it is no longer able to be charged. 2. How do you recommend disposing the battery pack? a. Return it to a knowledgeable battery recycling facility.
