2 LEARNING HOW TO FLY There are many true beginner airplanes out on the market today. They are usually electric power gliders, slowflyers, or parkflyers. These beginner airplanes are such good models that most of them are not even bought by first-time flyers but by long-time expert flyers! By following these simple instructions, you will learn to fly a RC airplane in no time! Understand how a plane flies. By understanding how a plane flies you will have greater control over your plane. When the wing moves forward the air lifts it up. If it moves too slowly, it won't lift and it will fall right out of the air. It therefore needs speed, which will come from either a motor and propeller, or by descending and gliding. All the time that the wing is moving forward it is lifting, no matter what position it is in. It can be upside down, in a turn, inverted, or doing acrobatics, and there is always a lift from the wing even though the lift might not be straight up as it is when the plane is in flight. The airplane is able to make a turn by tilting in the direction of the turn, so that some of the wing lift is angled either partly to the left or partly to the right depending on the direction of the turn. To turn the plane, you tilt the wings with the ailerons or with the rudder, in the direction that you want the airplane to turn. To make the airplane will go up, you give the up command to the elevator. The elevator surface angles up, and the air that's hitting it blows the tail down and the nose up. As the airplane goes up it slows down. If it goes too slow then the lift stops and the airplane falls-it will stall. Turning a RC airplane is very different than turning a RC car or a RC boat. When you tilt the airplane's wing in the direction that you want it to go, the airplane will continue to tilt as long as the wing is still angled in that direction.. To stop the airplane from turning, you move the control stick in the opposite direction from the turn so that the wings will level out. If you let go of the control stick, the airplane should automatically come back to a level flight. Make sure to check the following things before each flight. Choose a large flying field for your flight. Don't try to fly in your street or in another small enclosed area, even if your airplane is capable of flying in such a restricted place. You will need a large open, airy place for your first flights. Hand launching your airplane. If you hand launch your airplane, make sure to throw it straight ahead not up, and throw it hard. Taking off from a ground roll. If you take off from a ground roll, the airplane needs to build up speed before you signal up elevator, in order that you know that the airplane has enough speed to fly. When it actually takes off and leaves the ground try to climb at a very small angle, not abruptly, because that may cause a loss of airspeed and a stalled plane. Don't climb too steeply. Give very little up elevator as you begin takeoff. Many beginners try to climb too steeply which makes the plane slow down and crash. Turns. Don't try any turns until the plane is very high up. Just climb straight ahead with very gentle turns. Also make sure to practice gentle turns in the air before trying to land. Practice false landings while still high in the air in order to get a good idea of the plane's falling speed. If the airplane stalls, just give it a bit of the down elevator and the airplane will start flying again. When the airplane flies towards you, turn your body a little, so that you can imagine right and left from the airplanes point of view. This will prevent you from getting confused about which way to turn your airplane. Landing. Avoid turns when the airplane is low. Don't try to land your plane in a specific place. Instead just let your plane glide slowly onto the ground ahead. The bigger the field when you fly for the first time, the greater are your chances for success. The Cessna incorporates the use of a Radio Transmitter, speed controller, electric motor, and electric servo's to provide long time enjoyment and give the user an introduction into the excitement of R/C flight. Make sure that the top of the rudder and elevator opening has a micro separation. If not make a gentle slice through it as shown in picture. Insert Elevator into fuselage (body). (Make sure control horn is facing down when doing so) You may need to slightly bend the elevator flap up to properly insert into fuselage opening. Apply the included glue to secure the tail into place. 2. Apply some glue on the elevator position of fuselage, 3.Spread apart the tail of fuselage a little up, and insert the elevator into the fuselage. -7-

If quicker results are needed you may use a 5 Minute epoxy to that can fully cure in 16 minutes. Epoxy is also stronger than the included kit glue. -8-

Keep the throttle stick at the lowest level for at least one second, then you are able to open the throttle and the motor will respond. This is a safety feature.

13 1.The transmitter needs 8 AA dry batteries. After you install the batteries, you can turn on the transmitter, the green will come on. If the voltage of battery is too low, the transmitter will beep automatically, then you must install new batteries. 2.Turn on the transmitter first, then connect battery. 3.Keep the throttle stick at the lowest level for at least one second, then you are able to open the throttle and the motor will respond. This is a safety feature. If the motor does not work, please reset the controller by disconnecting the battery and repeating steps 2and 3. 4.When the battery voltage is lower than safety voltage, the speed controller can autocut the power to the motor but still keep supplying power for receiver & servo. 5.Distance testing: The control distance of the radio system is 900 feet on the ground. Here is a simple distance testing method: Shorten the transmitter antenna, and ask your partner to handle the Cessna and walk away. If you can control Cessna when your partner is 60 feet away from you, it indicates that the radio system is working well. Remember tell the partner to stay clear of the Propeller at all times. Install the batter y Connect the battery to the speed controller connecter Turn the screw to lock the cover of battery box Flight Preparation Make sure that batteries in your transmitter are fresh and that antenna is extended all the way up. This will ensure full range for your aircraft. If you notice your going to crash, cut throttle immediately. This will minimize damage. -13-

14 Flight adjustment 1. Cessna will fly better with fully-charged batteries. 2. Keep flight straight: when you find it is difficult to fly Cessna straightly, please adjust the micro-adjuster on the transmitter. For example, when you find Cessna always fly toward left, please push the micro-adjuster on the transmitter to inverse direction --- right, as this will move the rudder to compensate. 3. Keep flight horizontal: when you find it is difficult to fly Cessna in level flight, or Horizontally, please adjust the micro-adjuster on the transmitter. For example, when you find Cessna always fly upward, please push the micro-adjuster on the transmitter toward the top, as this will adjust the position of the elevator. Flight attention 1. Never fly in strong wind. 2.Do not fly at any place where another same-frequency Cessna is flying. 3.Taking off: Always take off toward the wind. If you want to launch Cessna by hands, maximize the power (including the microadjustment) and run several meters to accelerate yourself, at last throw the Cessna horizontally. If you want to launch Cessna on the ground, maximize the power and let Cessna accelerate, keep it running straightly, after it runs more than 60 feet, you can pull the elevator joy stick, and it will take off. 4. Course: you need only 30% of the maximum power to keep Cessna flying. It is a good idea to fly with power for a while and glide for a while. In this way You can increase your maximum flight time and familiarize yourself with Landing approaches. 5. Landing: Before landing, switch off the power, fly toward the wind, and when Cessna flies near to the ground, you may pull the elevator joystick and Cessna will land gently. It really needs practice, although it sounds easy. It may be difficult for you until you do this many times. -14-

16 Valuable experience 1.If you have a computer flight simulator, it is a good idea to practice with it before actually flying with the Cessna. 2. You can taxi Cessna on the ground with little power, make yourself become familiar with the direction control. Especially being familiar of the control style when Cessna taxi toward you. 3.You must learn how to control Cessna gently, you are using a proportional radio control system, and only slight corrections are necessary to change the direction of the Cessna. 4.Do not push the joystick to maximum position more than 3 seconds. This will cause crash. 5.If you have an instructor with experience, you will be more likely to succeed in first flight. 6.Do take off and land toward the wind. Always keep the Model airplane in front of you, if you fly behind you, it may cause you to become disoriented and lose control of the airplane model. It is a good idea to purchase at least one more battery or fast charger from the distributor to make your flights last longer. Although after your first flight, please allow the motor to cool on the Cessna for a couple of minutes so that it performs smooth during Backup parts If you damage some parts of Cessna, you may check with your local hobby shop dealer where you purchased your Cessna for replacements. -16-
