Record the total number of gallons of gas consumed in one normal day from your table 2. Calculate the total number of gallons of gas consumed in one year (1 year= 365 days) 3. How does YOUR average gallons of gas usage compare to the average American (the average American uses 423 gallons of gas per capita/yr)? Is it above or below? What is your hypothesis why? 4. Compare your gas mileage from your car to a group member. What were the impacts of driving a newer car vs an older car? 5. The average car has a tank that hold approximately 15 gallons of gas. How many days would it take to use up one tank of gas?

4 6. If everyone in the state of Iowa drove like you did (3,100,000 people), how many gallons of gas would be consumed in 1 year? 7. A gasoline tanker truck can hold 3,000 gallons of gas. How many tanker trucks would you use in your lifetime if you use gas in the way you currently do? (You get to choose your lifespan) 8. What are ways to minimize the gasoline use in your life AND what impacts would that make?

How does this impact Iowa? What is the main fossil fuel used to create gasoline? Identify some SPECIFIC issues about using that fossil fuel How can I reduce my own ecofootprint?
