What drives P&TS? Reducing peak trips is a University priority
Stanford shall mitigate the transportation impacts of its additional development and population growth either through a program of no net new commute trips or through proportional funding of mitigation measures for specified impacted intersections. - Stanford University 2000 General Use Permit
Sustainable Commute or Drive Off-Peak Reducing peak-hour trips is a University priority. Use a sustainable commute whenever possible Avoid driving alone during peak hours: Photo: Steve Castillo Main campus arrivals: Main campus departures: Avoid 8 to 9 a.m. Avoid 5 to 6 p.m. Linda A. Cicero / Stanford News Service

Virtual Parking Management System
Virtual Permits Q: Why was the Virtual Parking Permit System implemented? A: Two primary factors: 1) Our existing system was obsolete and had to be upgraded/replaced 2) P&TS is moving to SRWC in 2019 We evaluated options and chose a system to further Stanford s goals: Allow for better integration between parking and TDM Improve parking enforcement efficiency Analytics to predict and better manage parking demand Develop data to help commuters find available parking
Virtual Permits Q: What are some of the benefits of the new system? A: Improved enforcement will reduce abuse of commuter spaces All transactions handled online instantly Daily parking can be purchased when needed versus in advance Commuters can use an A or C space as needed In the future, commuters could know where parking is available
Virtual Permits Q: What are the best practices for the new system? A: Enter all available vehicles in your account in advance Be sure to accurately enter vehicle(s) license plate, make and model Assign the correct vehicle to your permit You can purchase a daily permit the night before or morning of expected use Bookmark the parking permit page in your browser(s) If parking underground, buy your permit when you re at the surface Keep your available vehicles up-to-date in the parking system
Virtual Permits Q: What is the plan for department sponsored parking for visitors and/or events? A: Testing of event module Allows for either the department or attendees to register for parking Parking paid for by department or individual attendees Reviewing best practices of other virtual permit programs: Half-day and full-day department visitor permits Tablet kiosks at events for validated parking
Resources to help customers with these transition Microsites Stanford Redwood City Virtual Permits Pre-tax Transit Benefits
