4 COMMUNICATIONS & OUTREACH NOACA in the News Strongsville awards contract for plan to improve safety at Pearl and Royalton Road cleveland.com December 28 City awarded a contract to make the Pearl Road/SR-82 intersection safer for pedestrians and bicyclists New countdown pedestrian signals Refuge islands for pedestrians Sloped curbs for wheelchairs Strongsville received a $141,000 NOACA TLCI implementation grant in 2017 Improvements are part of the Strongsville Town Center District Redevelopment Plan completed by NOACA in December 2015

9 LEGISLATIVE & FUNDING ISSUES 2019 Legislative Agenda has been sent to all federal and state legislators State Legislative Meet-and-Greet will be planned for March 8 NARC Federal Advocacy Day in Washington, DC on February 15 NOACA Local Government Transportation Day on May 3 NOACA is developing a strategy to deploy External Affairs Committee members in advocacy and outreach efforts

10 LEGISLATIVE & FUNDING ISSUES TIP Development Update Letters sent to communities on November 8 th requesting submittal of project evaluation forms for consideration of new NOACA TIP funding Project proposals were due December 21 st 200 applications received 50 communities responded $338 M requested Staff have begun evaluating project proposals Project proposals will be presented for information to the Subcommittees in March Project recommendations will be presented to the Planning and Programming Committee in April for Board action in June

12 OVERALL WORK PROGRAM (OWP) Transit Economic Analysis NOACA is preparing a report that will document the economic impact of transit agencies in Northeast Ohio This comparative analysis will show the true costs and benefits, in dollars and cents, associated with the presence or lack of public transportation services

17 ANNOUNCEMENTS NOACA ED Grace Gallucci to serve as president of the Ohio Association of Regional Councils for 2019 OARC is comprised of 24 agencies serving more than 1,500 municipalities, villages, townships and counties and representing over 10 million residents of those communities around the state Priority is Fix Our Roads Ohio (FOR Ohio) Coalition of stakeholders that have united in an effort to educate state leaders on the critical needs of Ohio s transportation infrastructure, and to advocate for a dedicated funding solution that provides long term, smart investment in Ohio s transportation future.

18 ANNOUNCEMENTS Ohio EPA VW EV Charging Station Grant: County Stakeholder Meetings for Technical Experts Ohio EPA has scheduled meetings with stakeholders in 26 counties that are designated as priority areas for projects to receive funding from the VW settlement to install electric vehicle charging stations. January 15, 2019 Geauga (9-11AM: Geauga County Public Library Administration Center) Lake (1-3PM: Morse Road Community Center) January 30, 2019 Medina (9:30-11:30AM: Medina County Library) Cuyahoga (2-5PM: NOACA) February 4, 2019 Lorain (1-3PM, Lorain Port Authority)
