3 Existing Utilities Numerous utilities exist within the project area, including natural gas, sewer, water, electric, communications, and street lighting. The following sections and figures provide details of the existing utilities within the project area. A preliminary utility conflict analysis will be conducted during the 35% Design to identify specific utilities that require relocation or adjustment to final grade as a result of the intersection improvements proposed in the preferred alternative. Preliminary utility conflicts will be provided in the Final DSR. Water Water supply utilities within the project area owned and operated by AWWU. A large 24-inch ductile iron transmission main, constructed in 1981, runs south along the east side of Old Glenn Highway and jogs east at Monte Road. It continues south down Old Eagle River Road out of the project area. The 24-inch transmission main has a 12-inch ductile iron stub out and a 16-inch ductile iron main that cross Old Glenn Highway at Centerfield Drive and Brooks Loop, respectively. Further south, a 12-inch ductile iron main enters the project area on the south side of the UAA building. It crosses VFW Road near the Eagle River Road/VFW Road intersection and continues south along the west side of Eagle River Road. The water main crosses Eagle River Road at Fire House Lane and continues east where it joins with the 24-inch transmission main along Old Eagle River Road. Refer to Figure C1.

5 Sewer Public sanitary sewer facilities in the project area are also owned and operated by AWWU. Very few sewer line conflicts exist within the project area. A small 8-inch asbestos concrete line services the private sewer at the Eagle River Elementary School on the southeast corner of the Old Glenn Highway/Eagle River Road intersection and extends northeast along Old Glenn Highway. A second 8-inch ductile iron line services the private sewer south of the UAA building and joins a larger 30-inch ductile iron main that generally follows VFW Road. The 30-inch line crosses VFW Road west of the Eagle River Road/VFW Road intersection. To the south, a small portion of a 24-inch ductile iron sewer main crosses Eagle River Road south of Fire House Lane. It follows the west side of Eagle River Road for a short distance before diverting northwest. Refer to Figure C2.

7 Natural Gas Natural gas distribution and service lines within the project area are owned by ENSTAR. A 6- inch plastic natural gas distribution line runs along the east side of Old Glenn Highway from Centerfield Drive to Monte Road, where it reduces to a 4-inch plastic line. Here, a 4-inch steel line extends west along Monte Road and a 2-inch steel line crosses Old Glenn Highway and continues east along Brooks Loop. The 4-inch plastic distribution line continues south underneath Old Glenn Highway until it crosses to the west side of Eagle River Road just south of the Old Glenn Highway/Eagle River Road intersection. Near the Artillery Road interchange, a 2-inch plastic line extends south along Cross Drive and turns east to follow the north side of Old Glenn Highway for about 200 feet before terminating. At Eagle River Road the 4-inch plastic main from Old Glenn Highway reduces to 2-inch plastic and steel lines that follow the road for a short distance before continuing southwest past the UAA building along an easement to VFW Road. Further south on Eagle River Road, a 6-inch plastic distribution line installed inside a 12-inch steel casing and 4-inch steel distribution line cross Eagle River Road at Fire House Lane. The 6- inch line branches south and continues along the west side of Eagle River Road to outside the project area. Refer to Figure C3.

9 Communications Communication lines within the project area include fiber optic and cable and are owned by GCI and MTA. Fiber optic lines cross Old Glenn Highway at the Brooks Loop/Monte Road intersection and Eagle River Road at the Fire House Lane intersection. A fiber optic line also extends along the east side of Eagle River Road from approximately the Old Glenn Highway/Eagle River Road intersection south to Fire House Lane. Cable lines cross Old Glenn Highway and Eagle River Road in the same locations at fiber optic. A cable line also crosses Eagle River Road just north of the VFW Road intersection and extends south on the east side of Eagle River Road until turning east at Fire House Lane. Refer to Figure C4.

11 Electric Electrical facilities in the project area are owned by MEA. Few electrical utility conflicts exist within the project area. An east-west trending overhead electric line crosses Old Glenn Highway at the Brooks Loop/Monte Road intersection. A second east-west overhead line crosses Eagle River Road just north of the VFW Road intersection. A short segment branches off this line on the west side of Eagle River Road and extends south across VFW Road. Refer to Figure C5.
