2 Energy Management by demand Introduction The ifan is designed to offer environmental management through a controllable solution for the ventilation of Public, Commercial and Residential buildings, applying demand controlled ventilation ensuring optimum performance at minimum running costs. The ifan delivers: - Improved Environment ifan advanced ventilation control maintains improved indoor air quality, improved productivity and comfort quality. Energy Saving The ifan, demand controlled solution, reduces ventilation running costs, energy consumption, maintenance and noise. Increased Safety The ifan control system runs on low voltage SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage) improving the safety of installers and users. Simplified Installation The ifan sensors and switches are supplied with 10m of cable, a flexible gland terminated with a plug, simplifying and reducing the time and cost of safe installation. Single Source All ifans are stand alone, and fully functional, ensuring operational responsibility is via one source. Diagnostic Display The ICU has a LED screen to display all necessary values for setup, operation and maintenance. Intelligent Control Unit (ICU) The ifan controller processes the signals from room/duct mounted sensors and/or switches, coordinating and interpreting these inputs, based upon a pre-determined hierarchy enabling either automated or user controlled ventilation systems. The intelligent control unit, has a numeric display that assists with the set up and enables monitoring of the system operation. Output from the ICU displays, running times, fan speeds, fault indication, service intervals, damper or valve operation, temperature, humidity, and CO2 levels. The ifan ICU can also be controlled through a building management system. Scope The ifan system from Fläkt Woods offers a full range of box fans with integral intelligent control unit a range of switches, sensors, fittings and cabling to enable easy installation. 1

In these cases the size of the ductwork is limited and often the fan has to be mounted in ceiling voids close to building occupants. These restrictions mean that fans need to be compact, reliable and quiet in operation. The Fläkt Woods ifan inline twinfan units are specifically designed to meet these requirements, offering 100% standby with automatic changeover in the event of fan failure. The Fläkt Woods ifan inline single and twinbox fans are specifically designed to meet these requirements. Sizes ifan inline single fans (ifddsf or IFDRSF). ifan 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, 8/4, 8/6 ILS. ifan inline twin fans (ifddpf or IFDRPF). ifan 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, 8/4, 8/6 ILT. Roof Mounted Units - Type if DR-F Manufactured from mill finish aluminium alloy. Air is discharged to atmosphere through a deep-set single louvred plenum or louvred plenum with birdguard protection and anti-moisture drain points. Electrical isolators are fitted as standard. Duct connections can be provided in a variety of positions and sizes. Duct Mounted Units - Type if DD-F Manufactured from pre-galvanised sheet steel, arranged for horizontal air discharge. Fans The fans are double inlet, double width type using a forward curve impeller fitted within a scroll and either directly connected or through a belt drive to their individual motors. Motors The motors are manufactured to BS5000. On direct driven units anti-vibration mounts are fitted between the motor mounting arms and impeller scroll. Overheat protection is a standard fitment to direct drive single phase motors. Belt driven units have the mounts fitted between a common fan base frame and the unit casing. Electrical Supply V / 50 Hz / 1 φ Noise Levels All units can either be acoustically lined or not, just by using the prefix or *-AL (lined) or *-A (unlined) will enable the unit to be more specific to requirements needed. Servicing The top panel of each unit allows easy access for inspection. The fan assembly can also be easily removed for cleaning purposes. Mounting Suitable for horizontal mounting. 2
