Be sure to show all work clearly points - Mechanical and Electrical Energy Relationships: A dc motor is rotating at 800 RPM with E a =1000 V and I a =10 A. Mechanical rotational losses are 200 W. (a) Find the useful mechanical torque. (Here, useful means that the torque is actually available to do work such as in lifting a weight, turning a fan, etc.) (b) Find the stored rotational energy, if the rotational inertia of the machine is J=0.25 kg-m 2. (Note: kg-m 2 N-m-s 2 )

The stator is connected to a source so that i s (t)=5sin377t A and the rotor to a source so that i r (t)=5a. The rotor is spinning at a constant rate of 3600 RPM. Neglect winding and rotational losses. Machine Parameters: Armature (stator): L ss =3.2 H N s =50 turns Field (rotor): L rr =0.8 H N r =25 turns Coupling: L sr =1.6cosθ m H (a) What is the stored magnetic energy in the rotating machine as a function of time? (b) What is the torque on the motor shaft? (c) What is the stator voltage as a function of time?

(b) Find the magnitude of the per phase rotor current referred to the stator when operating at full load?

(b) What is the rotational speed if the motor draws 10 A with the same 200 V supply?

(a) What is the rotor angle δ if the real power output is 1.5 p.u.? (b) What is the reactive power output for this system in p.u.?

(b) Find the power developed (i.e., the actual electrical power converted to mechanical power) when running at full load. Solution can be given in either per unit or SI units but mark solution clearly. (c) Find the mechanical torque under full load conditions. Solution should be in SI units.

Infinite bus voltage: V t =6.93kV (1.0 p.u.) (a) What rotor angle(s), δ (0<δ<180 o ), will give a three phase real power output of 5 MW (0.5 p.u.)? (b) If there is more than one solution to (a), which of the angles can the generator actually operate at? (c) What is the reactive power output for this generator at this operating point?

A lab test reveals that the motor draws 1.5 A when operating at 1000 RPM. Neglect any brush voltage drop. Find: (a) the electrical torque developed under this operating condition, (b) the stored rotational energy, if the rotational inertia of the machine is J=0.25 kgm 2. (Note: kg-m 2 º N-m-s 2 ).
