21 Summary 1. GHG is an issue that needs to be addressed on governments and industry wide. 2. OECD Council Working Party on Shipbuilding should closely follow the developments on green technology in the region of Asia where there is strength in shipowning and shipbuilding. 3. Technical measures to deal with climate change should be considered in conjunction with their impact on the shipping economy, as these would provide significant gains in areas such as energy saving and pollution reduction. 4. IMO is moving ahead with an approach that is intended to increase the efficiency of shipping through setting benchmarks for transport efficiency related to CO2 emissions. 5. KR is heavily involved in providing technical solutions to the needs of shipowners, shipyards and governments.
