1 Description This manual describes methods and tools to setup the correct Propeller-Parameters into the propeller controller. 2 Requirements - All information in the pilot's manual is required for the following contents. - All information in the installation manual is required for the following contents. - Installation on the aircraft is completed in compliance with all requirements of the installation manual. - The pilot performing the attitude and testing on the ground and in the air must be adequately qualified for this activity. A flight experience of at least 500 flight hours and routine behavior in special cases is required. - An instrument for manual operation of the propeller via Bluetooth is ready to operate and can also be safely operated in flight. The software manual in the applicable and current version has been noted. - A clipboard to complete the flight test protocol is available and can be safely described in flight. - In order to make the scope of the manual is not too large, only the propeller-specific content is described below. All activities resulting from normal pilot behavior are not listed further. 3 Preparations The aircraft should be reliably secured against rolling during the longer phase of the run. 4 Data Output Detailed Display The display of the propeller data is renewed every 2 seconds. The following values are displayed in the detailed display: - Perf: Performance n: number of computations per second max: factor of the computing speed UpTime: Time since last boot of the controller - Gen: generator U: Internal voltage H60A Setupl Manual page 4 / 15

The controller therefore always starts with the short display version. The following values are output in the short display: - Meas: Measurements Engine speed in rpm Airspeed in km / h - Reg Regulation Rule mode (SPED, MAN, CNST) Target / control speed Target propeller pitch in% from 0-100% of the adjustment path - SPI: Motor controller current propeller pitch in% from 0-100% of the adjustment path String only in case of error (diverse) H60A Setupl Manual page 6 / 15

Set of a significant, slightly increased stall speed by throttle position Check that engine speed shown on the display the Propeller-Instrument shows the same value as on the aircraft instrument. Propeller mechanics Calling the Manual-Mode and setting the maximum propeller pitch. * observe how the propeller pitch increases and remains at the stop. This can be recognized by a sinking engine speed and a more vibrating propeller run. Calling the Manual-Mode and setting the minimum propeller angle. * observe how the propeller pitch is reducing and remains at the stop. This can be seen from an increasing engine speed and smother propeller run. This standard test is used to check whether the propeller mechanism is free even under engine load. If this is not the case, the testing must be stopped and the cause can be found according to the installation manual. Propeller Electronics Calling the Constant-Speed-Mode and setting a lower engine speed than the current one. * observe how the propeller pitch increases and remains at the stop. This can be recognized by a sinking engine speed and a restless propeller run. Calling the Constant-Speed Mode Setting and setting a higher speed than the previous one. * observe how the propeller pitch is reduced and remains at the stop. This can be seen from an increasing engine speed and quieter propeller run. This standard test is used to check if the propeller electronics also regulate properly. If this is not the case, the testing must be stopped and the cause can be found according to the installation manual. Load-Test Adjusting the highest possible level of engine speed by throttle position at which the aircraft still stops safely. Calling the Manual-Mode and setting the maximum propeller angle. * observe how the propeller pitch increases and remains at the stop. This can be recognized by a sinking engine speed and a restless propeller run. Calling the Manual-Mode and setting the minimum propeller angle. * observe how the propeller pitch is reducing and remains at the stop. This can be seen from an increasing engine speed and quieter propeller run. This load test is used to check whether the propeller mechanism is free even under high engine load. H60A Setupl Manual page 10 / 15

If this is not the case, the testing must be stopped and the cause must be found according to the Installation-Manual. 6 Flight Test Takeoff Run Calling the Automatic-Mode. For takeoff the throttle position is set to maximum. Should the engine remain in overspeed for more than 3 seconds, the full throttle position may only be activated slowly. * Note the maximum engine speed in the Flight Test Protocol. Takeoff-Climbing In the course of takeoff, the aircraft accelerates after takeoff until a safe airspeed is achieved. This safe airspeed is listed in the Propeller Parameter List as the Transition speed takeoff <-> climb. Properly operating propeller control will switch from maximum short-term engine speed to maximum continuous engine speed upon reaching this speed. H60A Setupl Manual page 11 / 15

* This should be observed and noted in the Propeller Flight Test Protocol. * A more optimal value for the Transition speed takeoff <-> climb according to the flight behavior is also to be noted in Flight Test Protocol. Climbing The propeller controls the propeller to the maximum continuous engine speed above the safe climb speed until the cruising speed is reached, unless the throttle position is retracted beforehand. * This should be observed and noted in the Propeller Flight Test Protocol. Cruise Upon reaching the preset Transitional speed climb -> cruise, the propeller controls the maximum speed to the preset cruise engine speed. If the actual airspeed, e.g. is reduced by the influence of thermals, the controller switches again at a slower speed back into the flight phase climb. This can be found in the parameters as Transition speed cruising -> climb * This should be observed and noted in the Propeller Flight Test Protocol. * A more optimal value for the Transition speed cruise -> climb according to the flight behavior is also to be noted in Flight Test Protocol. * A more optimal value for the Cruising engine speed according to the flight behavior is also to be noted in Flight Test Protocol. Fast Flight In order to perform a high-speed flight at a higher engine speed, it is necessary to switch to the Constant-Speed-Mode, which differs from the automatic operation of the propeller (Automatic-Mode). The pilot activates it by entering the command on the propeller instrument. Warning After manually activating the Constant-Speed-Mode with the set engine speed accordingly, neither the flight speed nor the flight phase detection is taken into account for the speed specification. To return to the Automatic-Mode, it must be activated again by entering from pilot. Decent If the throttle position is retracted so far that the propeller can not maintain the control value even at the lowest gradient, the engine speed drops accordingly. The propeller analyses the actual airspeed and propeller speed and regulates an pitch that produces little air drag to avoid unnecessarily obstructing the gliding flight. This also prevents an overspeed in case of sudden increase in power. * This should be observed and noted in Flight Test Protocol. This feature is not active in Constant-Speed-Mode. H60A Setupl Manual page 12 / 15

Landing The propeller recognizes at the low airspeed that a landing approach exists (flight phase landing approach) and regulates a flat propeller pitch to quickly come to high speed in case of sudden increase in power. A possible overspeed is tolerated in favor of increased safety through faster response. * This should be observed and noted in Flight Test Protocol. * A more optimal value according to the flight behavior for the already described Transition speed takeoff <-> climb is also to be noted under the aspect of the landing approach. Attention In the Constant-Speed-Mode and in the Automatic-Mode, sudden overspeed conditions are possible for a short time, especially at high speeds. Therefore, the power should be increased only slowly so that the maximum speed of the engine or propeller is not exceeded. The scheme must be given the time to readjust. 7 Parameter Setup The parameters must be well balanced considering the flight characteristics and the intended method of use of the aircraft. Helpful for the discussion are the impressions of the test flight and the notes. Attached a sample of a Propeller Flight Test Protocol. After final decision for correct Parameter Setup the parameter need to be set as described in H60A Software Manual. H60A Setupl Manual page 13 / 15
