3 PRINCIPLES 4 PROOFS The use of lubricants is necessary to: Controlled efficiency Facilitate sliding between two moving machine parts. Avoid seizure even under heavy loads. The efficiency of a lubricant can be established by many performance tests. Reduce and avoid premature wear of equipment. Protect machine parts from oxidation and corrosion. Avoid overheating and eliminate excess heat generated by friction. Improve water proofing and protection from other external pollutants. They are attracted by metal surfaces on which they adhere to form an extremely resistant lubricating film.
