3 SUMMARY OF OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY ACTIVITIES FOR THE SECOND QUARTER, SEISMIC / DRILLING ACTIVITIES During the second Quarter 2007, a total of KM 2 (3-D) was acquired by the Joint Venture (JV) companies, and the PSC/SC companies. JV Companies acquired KM 2, while PSC acquired KM 2 data during the quarter. A total of 4,089.18km data was processed /reprocessed during the quarter by both JVC & PSC/SC. There was no 2-D data acquired or processed during the quarter under review. A total number of Eighty-five (85) wells were drilled by twelve (12) Oil Producing Companies. JVC drilled forty-eight (48) wells, PSC thirty-seven (37) wells while Service Contract Companies had no drilling activities. Out of the total wells drilled, sixty-three (63) were Development wells, seven (7) were Work-over/Completion wells, ten (10) Appraisal and five (5) Exploratory wells. The total number of rig count during the quarter amounted to twenty-eight (28). (See table 1 & 2 for more details) 2.0 CRUDE OIL AND CONDENSATE 2.1 Production: Total Crude Oil and Condensates produced in the second Quarter 2007 stood at 187,199,323 barrels averaging 2.06 million barrels per day (MBPD). The major contributors to the total production for the quarter are: Mobil (24.90%), Chevron (16.51%) Shell (16.45%), Elf (10.23%). The alternative funding production for the quarter was 24,545,398 barrels, which is 12.09% of the total production. The Oil Producing Companies with their Production figures, average daily production and percentage contribution in descending order are shown below. (See table 4 for more details). 3

The Oil Producing Companies lifted 116,716,891 barrels or 58.29%, while NNPC lifted 83,529,254 barrels or 41.71%. Out of the 4

5 16,716,891 barrels lifted for export by the Oil Producing Companies, the JVC exported 73,364,966 barrels; PSC/SC companies exported 37,054,905 barrels, while Independent and Sole Risk Companies exported 6,297,020 barrels. NNPC lifting was made up of 47,359,147 barrels, exported on behalf of Federal Government for Federation Account and 36,170,107 barrels for domestic use distributed as follows:. 7,168,982 barrels supplied to the local refineries; and 28,990,458 barrels exported on behalf of PPMC. 2.3 Alternative Funding (AF) Joint Venture/Carry Crude Oil Lifting: In the First quarter of 2007, 23,841,837 barrels of AF crude oil were lifted by both NNPC and the three (3) Oil Producing Companies namely: Mobil, Elf and Chevron. Of this, the Oil Producing Companies lifted 18,414,712 barrels or 71.24% while NNPC lifted 5,427,125 barrels or 22.76%. 6 2.4 Crude Oil Export by Destination: In the Second quarter of 2007, a total volume of 183,580,628 barrels of Crude Oil and Oso Condensate were exported by NNPC and the Oil Producing Companies to five (5) major regions of the World: North America 101,347,329 barrels or 55.21%; Europe 32,259,373 barrels or 17.57%; Asia and Far East 25,545,633 barrels or 13.92%; South America 12,065,471 barrels or 6.57%. The remaining 12,362,822 b arrels or 6.73% were exported to some countries in Africa. (See Table 5). 3.0 NATURAL GAS 3.1 Natural Gas Production and Utilization: A total volume of Billion standard cubic Feet (BSCF) of natural gas was produced by eight (8) Oil Producing Companies in the First Quarter of Out of the quantity produced, Bscf or 34.50% was flared while the remaining Bscf (65.50%) was utilized as follows: Bscf was re-injected, Bscf was for LNG feedstock, Bscf was sold to third parties. The Oil Producing Companies used Bscf as fuel gas and Bscf as gas lift to enhance condensate production. EPCL took 2.83 Bscf and Bscf for fuel gas and LPG/NGL feedstock respectively. 6

7 4.0 REFINERY OPERATIONS 4.1 Crude Oil Balance: In the Second Quarter 2007, the three refineries (KRPC, PHRC and WRPC) had 340,174 mt of dry crude oil as opening stock and received 377,309 mt of dry crude oil. The total crude oil available for processing, therefore, stood at 717,483 mt. Out of this, 494,845 mt of crude oil was processed into petroleum products. The closing stock at the end of the Quarter was 222,638 mt of crude oil. The average daily throughput for each refinery in metric tons per day was: KRPC 0; PHRC 5438 and WRPC 0.00; (see Table 8); thus leaving their respective capacity utilization for the Quarter as 0%, 19.08% and 0.00% respectively. (See figure 4). 4.2 Production Returns: The three (3) refineries KRPC, PHRC and WRPC produced 459,806 mt of intermediate and finished products as against a volume of 677,352 mt evacuated by PPMC during the quarter (See Table 11) Refinery Fuel and Loss: During the Quarter, the three (3) refineries recorded 61,885 mt of products as refinery fuel and loss, which was 12.51% of the total crude processed by the refineries. 54,151 mt (10.94%) of various products was used as fuel, while 2,360 mt (0.48%) was the quantity of gas flared and 5,374 mt (1.09%) was recorded as losses. (See Table 12). 5.0 DOMESTIC PETROLEUM PRODUCTS DISTRIBUTION: During the Second Quarter 2007, the Major and Independent Petroleum Products Marketing Companies distributed a total of 2, million litres of different petroleum products. This showed a decrease of million litres or 22.14% when compared with the total volume distributed in the First Quarter, 2007 (3, million litres). The Major Petroleum Products Marketing Companies sold 1, million litres (71.98% of the total sales) of petroleum products, while the Independent Petroleum Products Marketing Companies sold the remaining million litres (28.02% of the total sales). In the petroleum products distribution slate, Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) had the highest figure of 1, million litres (77.26% of the total) reflecting average daily sales of million litres. This was followed by Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) with total sales figure of million litres (12.25%) averaging 3.21 million litres per day. Dual Purpose Kerosine (DPK) came third in the petroleum products distribution slate with total sales figure of million litres (4.37%) giving an average daily sales figure of 1.14 million litres. (Table 13, 14, and 15 refer). In terms of Market Share amongst the Major Petroleum Marketing Companies we have Total Plc (17.99%), Oando Plc (15.68%), African Petroleum (10.48%), Texaco (9.39%), Conoil (8.64%), Mobil (6.00%) and NNPC Retail (3.79%). (Table 14 refers). 7
