10 Aircraft Environmental Considerations EPA Clean Air Act: Authority to establish emissions standards for aircraft engines But must consult with the FAA in establishing these standards consider technological feasibility Can t significantly increase noise or adversely affect safety 49 USC 44714: FAA FAA authority over aviation fuel standards ONLY if: EPA finds fuel quality contributes to emissions which endanger public health Emissions standards are enforced by FAA through aircraft and engine certification 10
