1 Alternate Fuels Testers: TEST RESULTS for Testing Done 6/11/06 StarTron Enzyme Fuel Treatment for Gasoline Tests were conducted by Rachel Clark and Danny Hoang Vu. Rudy Stefenel was present. PURPOSE: TO FIND IF STARTRON ENZYME FUEL TREATEMENT FOR GASOLINE COULD IMPROVE THE FUEL ECONOMY OF A NEW CAR. THIS WAS DONE USING A GASOLINE ELECTRIC POWER GENERATOR WITH A FIXED LOAD. We are not testing things related to maintenance such as cleaning carbon out of the combustion chambers, and cleaning the fuel system so that is why we are calling out a new car. If we found a significant improvement in fuel efficiency using our test set up, then we would eventually test StarTron for Gasoline in an automobile. A generator running at a constant speed, with a fixed load, is not the same as running an automobile with varied driving conditions, but testing with a generator gives a good indication of how well a fuel additive will work in an automobile. Testing using a generator with a fixed load is fast and accurate because everything IS fixed. CONCLUSIONS: StarTron Enzyme Fuel Treatment for Gasoline did not improve fuel efficiency at all in our test setup.. StarBrite makes lots of claims about StarTron. The only thing we tested for was StarTron's ability to increase fuel economy and we did that using a new engine. StarBrite's claims are listed at the end of this report. TEST METHOD: TESTS WERE RUN USING STRAIGHT GASOLINE TO COMPARE TO TESTS RUN USING THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDED AMOUNT OF STARTRON MIXED IN GASOLINE.
2 The fuel flow rate was measured by timing 50 milliliters of fuel flow through a beret. Improved efficiency is the percent increase of time duration as compared to running with straight regular gasoline. This test involved using a Champion Power Equipment 3500-Watt generator with a 1500-Watt fixed load. The fuel flow rate, using a mixture of gasoline with a little StarTron in it (equivalent to 1 ounce per 8 gallons of gasoline) was compared to the fuel flow rate using straight gasoline. Several tests were averaged together to help cancel out normal testing inaccuracies. Here is the test generator set up for testing StarTron in a gasoline generator. Rachel Clark and Danny Hoang Vu are doing the tests. Notice the beret stand holding the beret on the left. Also notice the gray electric heater being used as a test load.

4 TEST SETUP 6/04/06: Location: Stabilizer Solutions, foothills in Milpitas, Thank to Peter Herrera! Gasoline: Union 76 regular StarTron Enzyme Fuel Treatment for Gasoline: Sold by StarBrite (800) Watt Gasoline Generator: Champion Power Equipment Model C46535 Test Load: Bionair Electric Heater model BH3930U, set at 1500 Watts Before the test, Rachel Clark and Danny Hoang Vu mixed 1.77 milliliters of StarTron in a half-gallon of gasoline as the test variable. That is equivalent to 1-ounce of StarTron per 8-gallons of gasoline. ENGINE WARM UP: Warmed up the Champion Power Equipment 3500-Watt generator, with gasoline, for 15 minutes with a 1500-Watt test load. All test times recorded are in minutes and seconds all through this report. As an example 2:11.27 is two minutes, eleven seconds and 27/100 of second. Here are the times logged for 50 milliliters of fuel flow using straight gasoline: Ambient temperature is 71 degrees F in the shade. TEST DATA ( straight regular gasoline ): 2:13.13, 2:13.11, 2:13.66, 2:14.49, 2:14.89, 2:13.38, 2:13.16, 2:12.90, 2:14.52 Average: Now, Rachel and Danny let the beret run nearly dry and added the variable ( regular gasoline with a little StarTron ) for 15 minutes, keeping the generator running and keeping fuel in the beret. This cleared out the straight regular gasoline from the generator fuel system and primed it with the variable. Ambient temperature is 71 degrees F in the shade. Then Rachel and Danny ran the tests; Here are the times logged for 50 milliliters of fuel flow using the variable:
5 TEST DATA ( variable: 1.77 milliliters of StarTron in a half-gallon of gasoline ): 2:11.19, 2:13.15, 2:10.66, 2:12.77, 2:11.81, 2:11.19, 1:11.77 Average: This average is 1.44 percent worse than the test average using straight gasoline. StarBrite recommends 1-ounce of StarTron per 8-gallons of gasoline for the first time using the product. This is equivalent to 1.77-milliliters of StarTron per half-gallon of gasoline, which is what we used, so we tested to the Manufacturer's recommendation. We only tested one of the Manufacturer's claimed features of StarTron for a several reasons. I want to find ways of improving the economy of an automobile with a new engine, we are not well equipped to test the rest, and it would take incredibly longer to test all their claims. Here are the Manufacturer's claims: 1. Reduces all emissions 2. Prevents fuel oxidation and stabilizes fuel chemistry for at least 1 year 3. Lowers fuel system maintenance 4. Eliminates carbon build-up in fuel delivery system and on exhaust components 5. Increases fuel economy up to 15%. 6. Instantly cures fuel jelling caused by cold weather and alcohol fuels. We only tested item 5, which is StarTron's ability to increase fuel economy. We found no improvement. What if StarBrite is basing this claim on cleaning the carbon out of a terribly carboned up engine? If that is true, then there is no way for a Customer to know by reading what is written on the bottle and what is claimed in StarBrite's advertisement. Also, we limit our testing to the fuel economy improvement that a product will make to a new engine, one that does not have carbon in the combustion chambers, and one without contamination build up in the fuel system. In other words, I want to find out ways of improving MPG that are not related to engine maintenance and fuel system maintenance. 6/14/06, Rudy Stefenel
