GNVERT, who we are? Our job : deliver clean alternative fuel CNG : 4 skills Fuel selling Distribution stations construction Maintenance / operation Distribution stations renting LNG, Bio-CNG : strong action to help the market grow Our Customers : BtoB municipalities Companies GNVERT, created in 1998, 100% subsidiary of GDFSUEZ staff : 34 / 35 years old average age 2010 T.O : 23 M (2009 : 22,5 M ) 2010 ROC : 3 M (2009 : 1,9 M ) 2010 Net result : 2 M (2009 : 1,4 M ) CNG selling 2010 : 391 GWh 34 millions m3 (2009 : 33,5 millions de m3) Keep increasing since 10 years 4
Our stations - nationwide GNVERT operates more than 140 CNG stations in France Every day GNVERT supplies fuel to: buses dump truck - 5,500 light duty vehicles delivery trucks 5
Our conviction & Strategy Observation of the current situation : -Transportation ti sector is dominated d by petroleum fuels - Pollution (local and green house gases) raises non acceptable levels - Oil importation must be reduced as much as possible - Congestion weights the economy efficiency down - Electricity as a fuel is under the spotlights Our Conviction : There s not ONE universal solution, there are several solutions taking into account technology maturity, kind of vehicle, range of distance Our Strategy : - Focus on professional and local authorities - Deliver a range of green fuels - Offer several package of services 6
GNVERT, who we are CNG principles CNG market CNG Costs CNG solutions in France Focus on Paris The First steps Appendices 7
CNG what is it? CNG, is natural gas, as at home bars compressed in the cylinders (tanks) Fowl, lighter than the air, quickly dissipates. The cng is authorized in all the parking and the underground passages. A refueling is done in 2 to 5 minutes. The range of vehicles is between 300 and 500 km in CNG (to whom are added between 500 and 800 km in gasoline) - Proven ecological performances - 80 % reduction of the NOx emissions i - 95 % reduction fine particles emissions - 50 % reduction of noise pollution - 25 % reduction of CO2 emissions with regard to an engine gasoline and 5 % with regard to the diesel - Odourless fuel Bio-CNG - No black smoke emission = - Improvement of the comfort Zéro CO2 Zéro Particle -90% Nox 8
CNG for whom? Light vehicles Goods transportation Buses Refuse collection vehicles 9
The CNG Station To have a CNG station operational, we need : - Gaz pipes next to the station -> minimum pressure 4 bars - Electricity - A land for the circulation of the vehicles - A regulatory context to take into account - ICPE rubrique Zonage ATEX Not more constraints than for a petroleum station 10
CNG and LNG -Where there is no natural gas pipes, we can still have gas thanks to LNG - LNG is the alternative solution to pipes network - LNG can be turned into CNG thanks to vaporization - LNG can bring much better range to vehicles (3 times more than CNG) - The technology exists, is available 11
Natural gas, fuel for the future - Bio-méthane fuel Raw material Biogas i purification Infrastructures Bio-CNG - Renewable and inexhaustible potential - Production from garbage, biomass - Finally, same gas as CNG - Fully compatible with actual installations -Hybridization: Hybridization = electricity + fuel powered engine fuel powered engine =gasoline, diesel or CNG CNG hybridization exists, in a industrial scale 12
The future? So much opportunities Sustainable mobility in the air Politics commitment Companies commitments Commercial opportunities Circulation constraints (parking access, congestion charge ) Fiscal pressure increasing Clean fuel mix developing CNG, full potential fuel Low pollution emission No technological risk Real Economical competitiveness Bio-CNG Hybridization compatibility Dual Fuel 13

CNG market in the world Between 2004 and 2010, the number of vehicles has grown from 4 to 12 million 11 million of cars busses trucks others 15
CNG market in France GNV market has begun in 1995 thanks to government impulse 20% clean vehicles in each municipality Market is shared as followed : Bus : Dump truck : Light duty vehicles : Heavy duty vehicles : 100 Within this market GNVERT is in charge of filling : Bus : Dump truck : 750 Light duty vehicles : Heavy duty vehicles : 70 16
GNVERT, who we are CNG principles CNG market CNG Costs CNG solutions in France Focus on Paris The First steps Appendices 17
CNG Price The CNG price MUST be competitive, and must be profitable on the life time cycle of the vehicle, considering all the costs : Cost of fuel Cost of vehicle Cost of maintenance The CNG price is set up according a business model based on several data : customer s fleet Type of vehicle to fill Kilometers per year and consumption Choice between fast or slow filling Private or public shared station Components of the CNG price This will define the type of station, the investment, and the final price for the customer 18
A few datas about the CNG stations 200 bars compression, station conception and vehicles to refuel, those elements are to be taken into account for the project, regarding the costs : Petit débit Petit Débit Moyen Débit BOM B.O.M et P.L PL Grand Débit BOM B.O.M et P.L PL Grand Débit BUS Type de parc 0 à 10 VL 10 à 100 VL 12 à 25 BOM / PL 40 à 100 BOM/PL 50 à 100 bus Compresseurs 1 compresseur 9m3(n) 1 à 2 compresseurs (35 m3 (n)/h) 2 compresseurs (450 m3(n)/h) 3 compresseurs (450 m3(n)/h) 3 compresseurs (450 m3(n)/h) Bornes Deux flexibles de 1 borne + un badgeur 2 bornes de 2 bornes de nombre de remplissage remplissage en remplissage en flexibles = nombre alternance parallèle d emplacements Surface site 1 place de pkg 150 m2 300 m2 500 m2 Fonction du nombre de bus Investissement process Station ti 80 à 150 k 400 k 600 k 650 à 1000 k The selling price must be competitive compared to diesel. The ecological benefit is not enough to make the difference 19

GNVERT, who we are CNG principles CNG market CNG Costs CNG solutions in France Focus on Paris The First steps Appendices 21
GNVERT and PARIS The Buses La RATP has chosen CNG as the clean alternative fuel for a part of its BUS fleet : -Since 1999, 90 buses run CNG -The contract model is the following one : GNVERT has financed the station GNVERT has built the station GNVERT maintains and operates the station GNVERT and RATP has two contracts One contract for the rent of the land One contract for the fuel selling based on a price of the CNG x consumption -The station is exclusive for the RATP Buses, on the RATP s site -Station with quick filling, 3 minutes for a refueling The solution has been operational for 12 years, with a positive return of experience, technical and financial. i 22
GNVERT and PARIS the refuse collection Paris has chosen CNG as the main fuel for its fleet of garbage trucks : -Since 2001, 80% of the municipality fleet runs CNG Garbage trucks 26T, 19T Cleaners, whiners -Filling trucks thanks to 3 dedicated di d stations, ti based on the following contract t model : GNVERT has financed the station GNVERT has built the station GNVERT maintains and operates the station A contract for the fuel selling based on a price of the CNG x consumption -The stations are dedicated for the use of this kind of trucks but are share by all operators (public and private) Quick filling stations, refueling in 2 minutes Paris municipality imposes the CNG to all its An industrial solution operational for 9 years, with a positive return of experience, technical and financial. 23
GNVERT and PARIS goods delivery Real case of an operator who has chosen CNG to run its trucks: SAMADA, logistics subsidiary of the Monoprix s Group have rented 26 trucks GNV 29m2, 26T With low noise equipments SAMADA s will is to run with a clean Energy, make less noise, and to Anticipate the future circulations Constraints (congestion charge) and to have a complete Clean supply chain 24
GNVERT, who we are CNG principles CNG market CNG Costs CNG solutions in France Focus on Paris The First steps Appendices 25
How it begun in France? 1 - Government policy Having 20% of clean vehicles in municipalities fleets buses refuse collection vehicles light duty vehicles 2 An operator able to supply complete solutions in charge of all regulatory aspects in charge of building the stations in charge of operating the stations 3 manufacturers providing efficient vehicles buses, garbage trucks, light duty vehicles good reliability Life time cycle economy The example of PARIS is typical of what can be done in clean alternative fuel policy. Without the will of the municipality, nothing could have been done 26
What you need to go further? Government policy : Clean air policy % of clean vehicles Circulation constraints} Financial incentive for stations or vehicles } Need simple government decision Marketing strategy : Focus on huge consumers (bus, garbage trucks, trucks, fleets) Able to make the investment be profitable The ones with the highest CAPEX for replacing the vehicles The state companies A company who can integrate all services Buying gas, selling CNG Able to operate stations Able to invest in stations } Need } Need market study Need specific skills and knowledge Vehicle manufacturers Already exist (FIAT/IVECO, MERCEDES, PVI, VANHOOL, SCANIA, VOLVO, etc ) 27
