No. : EG-6008 Service ulletin Date : Mar.,2006 Page : 1 of 19 rea pplication : Europe Model Name : COROLL Model Code : NDE120 Subject : TROULESHOOTI PROCEDURE FOR 1ND-TV EINE: LCK OF POWER OR HESITTION This Service ulletin corresponds to problems of the common-rail diesel engine when no DTC is present. This troubleshooting procedure checks for the cause of an obvious lack of engine power (the vehicle speed does not reach the target speed in the high speed range) while the vehicle is being driven. In this Service ulletin, there are several references made to the related Repair Manual. This is repair manual COROLL, NDE120 series, ug., 2004, Pub. No. RM1129E. When you are performing this troubleshooting procedure, you will need to have access to it. Specified values in the following troubleshooting flowchart are for reference only. Variations in the Data List result values may occur depending on the measuring conditions or the vehicle's age. Even if the Data List values indicate a standard level, the vehicle may not be functioning normally. There may possibly be some concealed factors causing the malfunction.

No. RM1129E, page 12-3). : No malfunction. If the EGR valve is not closing properly during full acceleration, part of the exhaust gases will return to the intake, and thus reducing the exhaust gas flow to the turbocharger. Consequently, the turbocharger cannot reach the specified speed that results in lower intake pressure. The EGR valve can be checked by performing ctive Test / EGR Step POS operation with intelligent tester. NOTICE: If the EGR valve is forcibly closed by the intelligent tester, MF reading must be increased. If the EGR valve is forcibly opened by the intelligent tester, MF reading must be decreased. REPIR OR REPLCE 24 CHECK WHETHER OR NOT THE EGR PSSGE IS CLOGGED Carefully check that the EGR passage via the following components is not clogged.

No. RM1129E, page 05-78). : No malfunction. If the intake shutter remains partially closed when the engine speed is increased from the idle speed to 2,500 rpm or more, the air delivered by the turbocharger cannot flow smoothly in to the intake, resulting in lack of power. REPIR OR REPLCE 26 CHECK INTERCOOLER Carefully check the intercooler for dirt, mud or leaves which may have blocked the fins of the cooler unit. Check both the front and rear surface of the cooler unit. If the intercooler is blocked, charging air cannot be cooled properly and the mass of the intake air will drop, resulting in lack of power.

15 Service ulletin Ref. No. : EG-6008 Page : 15 of 19 : Fins are clean and free from heavy dust or mud. NOTICE: For cleaning the intercooler do not use a steam cleaner or high-pressure fluid cleaner.
