QUESTION 1 SOALAN 1 C1 (a) State the differences between internal combustion engines and external combustion engine. Nyatakan perbezaan diantara enjin pembakaran dalam dan enjin pembakaran luar. (b) Explain the operations of the two-stroke spark ignition engines. Terangkan kendalian enjin 2 lejang bagi enjin penyalaan percikkan api. (c) Draw the P-V and T-S diagram for the ideal Otto cycle. Lukiskan gambarajah P-V dan T-S bagi kitar Otto. (d) 1 kg of air experienced Otto cycle condition as follows : - Process Adiabatic compression with a volume ratio of 8: 1, pressure and initial temperature of 105 kn/m 2 and 100 C. Process Heat supplied at constant volume until the pressure respectively 3540kN/m 2 Process The adiabatic expansion to initial volume. Process Cooling at constant volume to initial state. Calculate and specify the pressure, specific volume and temperature at every level of the state. Also calculate the heat transfer to the air in process 2-3. For air R = 287 J/kgK and γ = SULIT

Kira dan nyatakan nilai tekanan, isipadu tentu dan suhu pada setiap tingkat keadaan. Kirakan juga pemindahan haba ke udara pada proses 2-3. Untuk udara R = 287 J/kgK dan γ = 1.4. Kaitkan kesan terhadap nyalaan awal dan nyalaan lewat terhadap pemasaan penyalaan kepada proses pembakaran. (b) Sketch and analyse the combustion graph (pressure vs. crank angle degree) with: Lukis dan analisis graf pembakaran (tekanan vs. darjah aci engkol) dengan: i. Normal Combustion with no Knocking Pembakaran normal tanpa ketukan ii. Combustion with light knocking Pembakaran dengan ketukan ringan [7 marks] [7 markah] 3 SULIT
3 (c) Relate the origin of in-cylinder turbulence. Kaitkan permulaan terjadinya pergolakkan udara di dalam silinder. (d) i. Define the swirl and turbulence in the combustion chamber. Definisikan pusaran dan pergolakan yang berlaku di dalam kebuk pembakaran. ii. Analyze the effects of both motions to engine performance. Analisis kesan bagi kedua-dua pergerakan ini terhadap prestasi enjin. [8 marks] [8markah] QUESTION 3 SOALAN 3 (a) Practically, as the engine started, the combustion process will produce a lot of power that is distributed to the piston and crankshaft. There are TWO (2) basic power produced as listed below. Explain all. Secara praktikalnya sewaktu enjin dihidupkan, proses pembakaran yang berlaku menghasilkan banyak kuasa yang diagihkan ke piston dan aci engkol.terdapat DUA (2) kuasa asas yang terhasil seperti yang tersenarai di bawah. Jelaskan kesemuanya. i. Indicated power Kuasa tertunjuk ii. Brake power Kuasa brek 4 SULIT
4 (b) A 4 cylinder is engine with 57mm in diameter and 90mm stroke length. The engine speed is set at 2800 rpm and tested on a brake arm with m length. As per recorded, the brake load is 155 N with fuel consumption of 6.74 l/hour. Petrol relative density is and low calorific value is kj/kg. A Morse Test has been run and every cylinder is tested consecutively in 1, 2, 3, 4 with brake load of 111 N,108.5 N, N and 111 N. Calculate the engine s torque and brake mean effective pressure, P b. Sebuah enjin 4 silinder berdiameter 57mm dan panjang lejang 90mm. Kelajuan enjin ditetapkan pada 2800rpm dan diuji pada lengan brek dengan panjang 0.356m. Dicatatkan, beban brek adalah pada 155N dengan penggunaan bahan api pada 6.74 l/jam. Ketumpatan relatif petrol adalah dan nilai kalorifik rendah adalah pada 44200kJ/kg. Satu ujikaji Ujian Morse dilakukan dengan setiap silinder diuji secara berturut-turut dengan giliran 1,2,3,4 dan beban brek yang terhasil pada setiap silinder adalah 111 N,108.5 N, dan 111 N. Kirakan Tork enjin dan Tekanan berkesan brek min, P b. (c) Every single variable occurs during engine s operation is related to the speed of the engine.
