10 Status of BWMC ratification (31st January 2013) BWMC has already been contracted by 36 Flag States * (30 required) representing ~30% of world s gross tonnage (35% required). 1 With ratification of one Flag State with 6% gross tonnage (e.g. Panama), BWM - Convention becomes mandatory 12 months later. 1 IMO web site Status of Convention * ) Germany (1,4%) has recently signed.
