4 Current Production and Capacity 2012 Production ~150 Million Litres of biodiesel ~1.8 billion litres of Ethanol We produce almost everything we need from an ethanol perspective, but we do still have imports which contribute to over compliance Expected biodiesel Capacity - ~ 400 Million Litres is expected to come online this year ADM facility in Lloydminster (~250 Litres) Remainder comes from offshore: Canadian Canola is exported to the Western United States for upgrading and returned to Canada as biodiesel Renewable Diesel from Asia and Europe

8 Advanced Biofuels in Canada We need to build enthusiasm! On the cusp of breaking out in Canada - Thermochemical Technology - Biological/Enzymatic Technology Wealth of feedstocks core issues vary by project including feedstock pre-treatment, high capex and first of a kind risk Advanced Biofuels can be integrated with the government s drive to transform the forestry sector, and stimulate the agricultural and manufacturing sectors Advanced Biofuels can solve several environmental challenges including those surrounding landfills The main challenge is about financing full scale commercial facilities

9 Next Generation Biofuels and Co- Products Significant, sustainable volumes of cellulosic feedstocks (2nd generation feedstocks) are available and can be used to supplement supply Cellulosic Ethanol is produced from lignocellulose, a structural material that comprises much of the mass from plants (i.e. wood, energy crops, and agricultural residues such as corn cobs and stover) Commercialization of next generation biofuels will require a co-location strategy, with next-gen processing modules integrated with existing first generation ethanol production facilities.
