2 Multiphase Pumps for enhanced crude oil production THE MULTIPHASE- PUMPS (MPP) ARE SETTING A NEW DIMENSION IN OIL PRODUCTION. 1 The conventional method to produce crude oil and gas can now be replaced by a more efficient method, - multiphase production. Compared to the conventional method, the multiphase production does not require any separation of crude, gas and water produced by the oil well. It is not required to build separate pipelines for the transporation of the liquids and the gas. For gas transport, no compressor is reqired. The gas lift volume can also be reduced for wells with gas lift. The key to the multiphase production system is in the multhiphase pump (MPP). The multiphase pumps can increase the pressure of the well flow for further transporation downstream and also reduce the well pressure to substantially increase production from the well. Besides reduction of capital investment, the multiphase pump simplifies oil production and increases the productive life of the oil well. LEISTRITZ high- and low-pressure MPP are used in both in fields, onshore and offshore applications. They are also used for marginal field developments where the complete gas lift system can be eliminated. The specific rotor design of the LEISTRITZ MPP is optimized for multiphase production and can handle high viscous and abrasive crude oil independently of the inlet pressure. The pump can accept very low inlet pressure (abs. 0.2 bar) and still handle high gas fraction and is well capable of handling slug flow without any disturbance. The LEISTRITZ multiphase pumps are available in sizes from 96 to 365 mm rotor diameter. The maximum flow is 330,000 bpd. Differential pressures up to 1,200 psi and gas fractions of 100% can be realized. The first LEISTRITZ MPP was installed on a platform in the Gulf of Mexico in Today, LEISTRITZ has several pumps in operation in onshore and and offshore oil fields showing continous high reliabiliy. In the future these pumps will also be used in subsea production down to a water depth of 1,000m. With this application a complete new field is opened to multiphase production. The high demand on availability makes it necessary to design the pump for a least 40,000 hours in continous service. The first unit will be supplied early

The scope of supply includes the bare pump as well as the complete skid mounted MPPunit including pump, driver, auxiliary systems and piping. MPP-pumps can be driven by electric motors, diesel engines, gas engines or turbines. They are either directly coupled, belt or gearbox driven. 5 LEISTRITZ PUMPEN GMBH Special rotor profile combined with a variety of hard coatings to minimize wear. Shaft seals can be single or in double seal arrangement to cover each MPP-application. Fulfills API 676 design requirements. Able to handle gas fractions from 0 to 100 % at inlet conditions. Can handle slug flow without torque fluctuations on the drive shaft. This lowers the wear of the whole MPP-unit and avoids the use of slug catchers. 6 Applications LEISTRITZ MPP is used to lower the well head pressure in order to increase production and to reduce required gas lift to maximize secondary recovery. LEISTRITZ MPP is used to rise the system pressure downstream of the pump either to overcome long distances between the well and process facillity to better use existing batteries and process plants. Onshore LEISTRITZ MPP reduces the need for separation facilities, boosts the pressure to overcome long distances and increases production from shut-in or low flowing wells. Offshore LEISTRITZ MPP save space on platforms by eliminating separators and compressors. They save costs by transporting the multiphase fluid in only one pipeline. They increase production and reduce the need of gaslift or water injection. Subsea LEISTRITZ MPP save capital investment by eleminating production platforms. 6
