5 Test Methods: ISO 2719, ASTM D93/IP34 Model APM-7 is the latest version of the automated Pensky-Martens Closed Cup (PMCC) flash point tester. SINGLE ACTION SETTING: The cup cover and the stirrer are permanently mounted on a swing-arm assembly, which allows an easy handling of the test cup cover. It makes free from handling the hot cup cover after completing a test. EASY OPERATION: Select a test mode and enter the expected flash point; while the instrument executes the test, you are free to do other lab work. The instrument follows the exact procedures prescribed in the test method, and the completion of the test cycle is signaled by beeps. The test result is brightly shown on the VFD module. INTERCHANGEABLE IGNITION SOURCE: APM-7 is equipped with both gas and electric igniter as the ignition source. It only takes a few minutes to switch from gas to electric or vice versa. DRAFT PROTECTION SHIELD COVER: A tinted acrylic cover not only insures the flame integrity but reduces the glare from the electric igniter coil. DATA HANDLING: The unit is equipped to store up to 50 successive test results and export to an optional printer or to a LIMS through an RS232 port. MODULAR DESIGN: The tester consists of a computer control unit and a test head unit, allowing remotely placing the test head unit up to 3 meters away. 7 Test Methods: ASTM D 189, IP 13, ISO The ACR-6 Conradson Carbon Residue Tester automates the evaporation and pyrolysis of the oil sample in preparation for determination of the Conradson value for percentage of carbon residue remaining, and is intended to provide some indication of relative coke-forming propensities. Optimum heater output for the prescribed burning process is programmed easily prior to the test. Ignition is determined by sheathed thermocouple. This integrated touch screen can be used to turn the heat on and off, set the duration of the test, set the RCF/RPM values and choose the type of rotor assembly and corresponding glassware to be used during the test. The Servoed motor speed mechanism allows the user to simply set the desired speed and the instrument will attain that speed. This mechanism calculates RPM based on the given RCF and type of Rotor selected. The large, clear, top opening lid provides for easy access to the rotor and tube holders and for cleaning of the unit. The lid has a 18-1/2" diameter viewing window allowing the operator to view inside the chamber for checking the status of the rotor and checking for possible spillage of the centrifuge tubes. Molded PTFE cushions provide for maximum protection and easy positioning of the tubes. Safety Features The Centrifuge comes equipped with a Safety Lockout Mechanism. Upon emergency shutdown the door is locked and cannot be unlocked until the unit comes to a complete stop, the unit is turned back on, and the stop/unlock key is pressed on the touch screen display. Furthermore, the centrifuge cannot start while the door of the chamber is open and the latch is not engaged. The Nitrogen Purge feature allows for a slow release of Nitrogen into the bowl of the centrifuge. This feature requires an external Nitrogen Gas source and can easily connect to an Inlet port located at the back of the unit 9

Each test position has one float-in-tube tube flowmeter positioned in front. The oxygen flow rate is maintained at 3 ± 0.1 L/hr with a micro precision valve. An oxygen pressure regulator is optionally available. Temperature control is provided by a digital display PID controller providing stability of ± 0.2º C or better. In the event of primary controller failure the bath is protected by a secondary high limit controller. Useful temperature range is from 40º C up to 120º C. The 30 or 60 positions are arranged in two back to back rows (15 or 30 positions each) suitable for those laboratories with an isle bench. Water flow to each condenser is controlled by a valve mounted on the back panel. This is available only if the condenser water flows directly to a waste drain. If a recirculating chiller is to be used only one flow valve is provided for each group of 12 condensers which must be arranged in series. 10

15 Test Method: Fully Conforms to the Manual ASTM D2500 No Cryostat required No Hazardous alcohol required Compact design Fully Automated Self Contained The Automated Cloud Point Analyzer fully meets the requirements of ASTM D2500. The dimensions of the glassware, the metal test jacket, position of probes, cooling profile, and other parameters are identical as specified by the manual method. The analyzer software confirms cloud point when the fiber optics detects reduction of the pulsing green light reflected from the bottom of the silvered test tube. Green light of a specific wave length has been found to most accurately simulate the human eye sensitivity for the cloud point. The chillers for cooling the automated analyzers use the concept of direct refrigeration. The test cup (metal jacket) for cloud point, pour point, or CFPP is directly cooled by the refrigerant, thus replacing the middle step of first cooling the flammable alcohol and then pumping the cold alcohol to the test jacket. Offers the additional advantage of rapid cool down to test temperature within minutes versus hours with bulky floor model cryostat models. The automated analyzer is mounted on the same cabinet as the refrigeration system, thus saving valuable laboratory space. DR4 series coolers are available in 1 or 2 test positions with lowest temperature of either -34 or -70 C. 11

16 Test Methods: ASTM D2622, ISO 20884, JIS K Model FX-700 determines total sulfur in ultra low sulfur (ULS) fuels using wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence (WDXRF) method to detect sulfur in oil content of a 3-4 ml sample. The FX-700 uses a gas-filled proportional counter to detect the presence of sulfur in quantities of as little as 1 ppm. The front panel display provides test status, sample name, raw count data, and sulfur content. Data from the last 50 tests are stored in RAM. The FX- 700 includes a built-in thermal type printer and an RS-232C 1 channel port for optional output to the user's Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). The Sulfur Analyzer is a stand-alone unit. No external PC is required for operation. SIMPLE OPERATION: Thanks to its dedicated design for ULS fuels, the operation has been simplified to the extreme. Just set a sample cell in the sample cell compartment and press the START key; no complicated parameter setting is required. As easy as a flash point test. STAND-ALONE DESIGN: The stand-alone design does not require a PC, and the compact housing allows bench-top installation. MINIMAM UTILITIES: Air-cooled small X-ray tube and gas filled proportional counter have been employed, and the only requirements are AC Power Source and Helium Gas. OIL LEAK PROTECTION: Disposable cardboard sample cell is easy to assemble and thus cuts down oil leak. It also absorbs leaked oil, in case of leak, and let operator know the leak before analysis. 17 Test Method: ASTM D3278, D3828, D4206; DOT CFR ; IATA;ISO 9038 and related specifications Verifies the flash point or the sustained burning qualities of small samples in the range of 30 C to +300 C. Features and Benefits One minute test with a 2mL sample Simple to operate Rapid Flash Tester Rapid Tester provides rapid determinations of flash point or sustained burning qualities by using a small sample. A flash/no flash test result is achieved in one minute for flash points below 212 F (100 C) with a 2mL sample. Ideally suited for quality assurance and environmental compliance testing as well as actual flashpoint for paints, fragrances, hydrocarbons and other liquids. Open cup models are used for determining sustained burning qualities characteristics of mixtures of flammable and nonflammable liquids or liquids with widely different flash points when assessing flammability characteristics. Features convenient semi-automatic operation for flash/no flash tests. Set the test temperature on the digital display and inject a 2mL or 4mL sample into the sample cup. The tester quickly stabilizes itself at the desired value, permitting the test flame to be applied and the result to be observed by the operator. Unit also performs conventional determinations of actual flash temperature by the small scale closed tester method. Two models are offered: the Closed Cup Model is for routine flash point tests in the range from 30 to +300 C ( 22 to +572 F); the Open-Cup Model is for sustained burning tests in the range from ambient to 212 F (100 C). Both models include automatic temperature control with C/ F selector switch, syringe, electronic timer, integral NIST traceable thermometer, and an external hose adapter valve for connection to a customer-supplied fuel cylinder or other fuel source. 13

18 Test Method: ASTM D , ISO 8754 RX-360SH determines total sulfur in petroleum products,, such as gas oil, fuel oil, crude oil and naphtha, using energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) method, which is an accurate, non-destructive, economical and yet quick method prescribed in ISO 8754 and ASTM D HIGH PRECISION: Digital pulse height analysis is automatically carried out at each measurement to adjust the system. This innovative system design has further improved the precision. WIDE RANGE OF SAMPLES: Patented Diamond Parameter Method accurately compensates for measurement error caused by different carbon/hydrogen(c/h) ratio of individual sample. This state-of-art technology enabled measurement of wide range of samples of different C/H ratios with uncompromising precision. AMBIENT TEMPERATURE AND BAROMETRIC PRESSURE COMPENSATION: Compensation for ambient temperature and barometric pressure are made automatically to drastically minimize the drift. 19 Test Method: ASTM 6584 The BioDiesel GC System is configured to perform ASTM 6584 (residual free and bound Glycerin in BioFuel ). Analysis takes about 25 minutes and is simple enough for an untrained operator to perform in the lab or in the field. The included PeakSimple Data System displays the calibrated results directly without off-line calculations. This gas chromatograph satisfies all of the requirements of ASTM 6584 for a fraction of the cost of competitive instruments and includes 4 hours of operator training and a 2 year warranty. 15

24 Test Method: ASTM D6079; ISO Features and Benefits Capable of engaging a steel ball loaded against a stationary plate with an applied load and oscillating at a fixed frequency and stroke length while the contact interface is fully immersed in a fluid reservoir. A 2-mL test specimen of fuel is placed in the test reservoir and maintained at 25 or 60 C. When the temperature has stabilized, a vibrator arm holding a non-rotating steel ball and loaded with a 200-g mass is lowered until it contacts a test disk completely submerged in the fuel. The ball is caused to rub against the disk with a 1-mm stroke at a frequency of 50 Hz for 75 min. The ball is removed from the vibrator arm and cleaned. The dimensions of the major and minor axes of the wear scar are measured under magnification and recorded. High-Frequency Reciprocating Rig (HFRR) The two-station Fuel Lubricity Wear Test Machine incorporates two test positions with heater pads and mounting arrangements for fuel lubricity test specimens. Load is applied manually by means of dead weights directly to the fixed ball specimen carrier by means of a loading yoke. Machine controls are limited to speed control of the drive motor to give the required frequency, temperature control of the specimen bath and test duration. Test data is limited to post test wear scar measurement only and no facilities are provided for friction force measurement. The electro-mechanical drive is used to achieve a wide range of frequencies, and the 1 mm stroke is generated with a cam. This ensures that the amplitude remains constant as friction forces vary in the contact. The ball specimen is mounted in a holder connected to the horizontal oscillating shaft. The shaft is double ended and two tests can be run at the same time. The holder is hinged to ensure that the line of action of the oscillator remains in the horizontal plane of contact. This also means that loads can be applied directly to the contact without loading the oscillator shaft. A simple yoke locates on the oscillating shaft and load is applied by calibrated weights. 21

25 The plate specimen is located in a bath that both seals and clamps the specimen. Beneath the bath is a block that is heated by an electrical resistance element and the temperature is controlled by a thermocouple closely located beside the specimen. Each heater block is mounted on a stiff fabricated support. A clear acrylic cover is provided to house the test heads. Operation of the machine is straightforward. The machine is equipped with two digital programmable controllers for temperature. Temperature setpoint can therefore be set independently for each station. In addition, there is a digital programmable frequency controller and test timer. The controllers are pre-set when the machine leaves the factory to the operating conditions required of the test methods. Once enabled, the machine heats each of the baths to a set point of 60 C. Once this temperature is reached the motor is switched on automatically to run at 50Hz. The test timer is preset for the duration of 75 minutes, which commences once the motor starts. At the end of the test the machine automatically switches off. They employ an aluminum block configured to fit the specified test tube holding 3.0 gm of FAME (fatty acid methyl esters). When the sample reaches test temperature of 110 C filtered, dry air is sparged at 10 ± 1L/hr. to each test specimen. The volatiles generated (organic acids) from this oxidation process are collected in a receiver of distilled or deionized water. The increase of acidity in the receiver is measured with time with an integral conductivity measuring device. The oxidation induction period is automatically calculated based on the break in the rate of increase (second derivative) of conductivity in the receiver. Each positions receiver has cap with an integral conductivity probe reporting data to the PC. 20
