Why priming is required in centrifugal pump but not in reciprocating pumps? 9) Explain with the help of neat sketch the working of Gear pump, Vane pump and screw pump.

Why is it required in a compressor? 7) Derive an equation for work done in case of a single stage single acting reciprocating air compressor neglecting clearance. 8) Why multistage compression is required? Give advantages of this compression. 9) Derive the volumetric efficiency equation for a single stage, single acting reciprocating air compressor. 10) Explain with the help of neat sketch the working and construction of a centrifugal compressor, axial flow compressor, roots blowers, and vane type compressor.
