2 Introducing the PetroSavers Engine Oil Refiner The PetroSavers Engine Oil Refiner is a proprietary and proven innovation that not only filters engine oils, but actually refines the oil while the engine is in operation. The PetroSavers Engine Oil Refiner is always connected independently and in parallel with the engine oil full-flow filter. This allows the oil to be pumped from the crankcase through the full-flow engine filter to the oil pressure gallery, then to the bearings without adversely affecting any of the engine s operations. Each refiner is an individual systems approach, which can be mounted horizontally, vertically, and upside down without affecting operational effectiveness. Thermal Breakdown There are 3 different contaminants that enter the oil in your engine as a result of the combustion process: solids, liquids, and gases. Thermal breakdown is when the build-up of solid, liquid, and gaseous contaminants from the combustion process attack and ultimately change the molecular structure of engine oil, leading to an increase in the oil s viscosity.

3 Thermal breakdown of the oil is when the viscosity of the oil changes, making the oil thicker. Thicker oil takes longer to travel throughout the engine thereby producing an increase in heat and causing damage or wear to the engine. This increase in the oil s viscosity combined with the engine s increase in heat causes Oxidation of the Oil. 4 Engine Wear Reduction How can we reduce engine wear? In order to increase engine life and reduce engine maintenance, the removal of all the various types of contaminants generated by the combustion of the engine must be continuously removed. Water has an adverse effect on engine components and it also plays a direct role in the thermal breakdown of lubricant oils. The presence of water in lubricating oil causes the increase of oxidation, resulting in premature aging of the oil. Industries invest vast amounts on research & developing technologies in an attempt to combat lubricant contamination. However, in offshore industries, water is a far more calamitous contaminant than solid particles, and is often overlooked as the primary cause of component failure.
