2 MTU Aero Engines Number one in Germany MTU Aero Engines is Germany s leading engine manufacturer and ranks among the global players in the industry. It designs, develops, manufactures, markets and supports commercial and military aircraft, as well as industrial gas turbines, for customers around the world. A respected partner in cooperative ventures, it collaborates with the world s major engine manufacturers. From these activities, MTU has derived a broad, balanced product portfolio that gives it content in all thrust and power categories. With its technology lead, the company again and again stimulates major component and subsystem areas like compressors, combustors and turbines. Notably MTU s low-pressure turbines and high-pressure compressors count among the best-of-class worldwide. Leaders in engineering and service The need for reduced fuel consumption, emissions and life-cycle costs is the great challenge for tomorrow s. MTU is responding to it with its Claire (Clean Air Engine) initiative, developing innovative technologies to set new benchmarks even now. Achievements like these are predicated on a great store of experience and outstanding expertise. With its over 75 years in the business, MTU has both. Most of its revenues have been deriving from the development, production and maintenance of commercial engine components. As Germany s industrial lead company for practically all flown by the country s military, the Munich-based company claims leadership also in the military arena, where it provides enabling technologies, develops and manufactures and engine components, offers technical logistic support for the overall product and trains customers. MTU and the German military are blazing new trails with their cooperation with the German Air Force that in an integrated win-win approach lets them share as equals in the maintenance of EJ200, RB199, J79, RR250-C20 and MTR390. Partners down the road MTU s mantra is Get things done jointly. With that in mind, it sees itself as a competent partner of its customers, implementing new propulsion concepts and developing new materials and processes that open up entirely new opportunities in engine construction. These are key to shaping the future with continuously improved technologies and to advancing innovation in aviation.
