4 Tasks We issue permits, approvals and other decisions, and prepare legal rules for the transport sector. We arrange examinations, handle taxation and registration matters, and provide reliable information services. We oversee the transport market as well as compliance with rules and regulations governing the transport system. We ensure the functionality of the transport system, even in emergency conditions and when normal operations are disrupted. 6 Resources Trafi employs approximately 528 people. The annual budget is 138 million, of which 48 million is allocated from the state budget. In addition, the agency collects 924 million in vehicle taxes. Oulu Rovaniemi Trafi maintains registers of all means of transport and their drivers. 7 CompMon project 1 st workshop was held in Helsinki 2013 with participants from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Estonian and Finland. A quote from the memo of that meeting: it is of vital importance to ensure sufficient compliance monitoring and coverage of sea areas concerned at any time of the day and night via a credible system of surveillance. 18/04/2016 7

8 Main objectives of CompMon project To join Member States forces in voluntary piloting of effective targeting for the enforcement of Marpol Annex VI To pilot the enforcement in MS territories at sea To share best practices in the implementation of targeting methods To communicate the experiences to e.g. regional conventions To strengthen the international inspection regime and port state control MoUs To create an innovation partnership in preparation for the European and global sulphur limits 18/04/2016 8
