1 Continuing 50 years of cooperation and innovation: Simon Møkster Shipping AS signs renewal contract with DNV GL Simon Møkster Shipping AS celebrates its 50 years anniversary in The company was founded in June 1968 with Mokstein as the first acquired vessel by the owner, Captain Simon Møkster. Simon Møkster Shipping has since owned and operated more than 100 vessels from fishing boats in the early years to modern offshore vessels in current times. Classification society DNV GL has supported the company all the way through the fleet s development. In January 2018, Møkster renewed their contract with DNV GL. Ever since the first classed vessel Mokstein, we have found DNV GL to be a highly competent and reliable partner for the future. Beyond class follow-up, DNV GL has also provided other services and contributed to development and innovation - both in cooperation with Møkster and within the Maritime industry in general says Anne Jorunn Møkster, CEO of Simon Møkster Shipping AS. Simon Møkster Shipping has for many years focused on both technical as well as environmental development, looking for new and better solutions. At present, Møkster operates 23 vessels. These vessels are highly advanced and several of them are special purpose built vessels operating in the harsh North Sea area. Most of the vessels are equipped with DP 2. The entire fleet is classed by DNV GL, under NOR, NIS and FAS flag. DNV GL is fully authorized to act on behalf of these flags. Møkster and DNV GL share much of the same values even if we have different roles in the Maritime industry. This makes it easier to find solutions together and work as a team. 2 The Companys first vessel: Mokstein Møkster s history and relation to DNV GL In 1981, Møkster converted the vessel «Strilmøy» (DNV id: 00279) into a stand-by vessel fitting an azimuth thruster for use when the vessel stayed at the field. This dramatically reduced the fuel consumption. The project was completed in cooperation with DNV GL. Strilmøy after the conversion in 1981.

Stril Supplier had a diesel-electric machinery system and was fitted with low NOx engines. This was not only contributing to a low fuel consumption but was also reducing the NOx- emissions compared to other vessels operating at that time. LNG-driven PSV In 2003, Møkster took delivery of Stril Pioner, which was one of the world s first LNG driven PSV s. This was a joint project together with Eidesvik for the development and building of two identical PSV s one for each Company. The project was launched and the vessels were delivered well before the Rules and regulations were developed and entered into force. This was of course a challenging task and DNV GL was a strong contributor ensuring the final success of the project. Stril Pioner under way using LNG. Early mover NAUT, SPS and Polar Code In 2005/2006 Møkster took delivery of the vessel series Strilmøy and Stril Odin. These vessels were among the first to receive Statement of Compliance for NAUT-OSV, as the actual NAUT-OSV class notation was not yet released. This additional class notation (NAUT) set requirements for bridge design, workstation arrangement, installation of navigational equipment and provision of maneuvering documentation in seagoing vessels; thereby reducing the risk of collision, grounding and heavy weather damage.

This is a common project together with Kongsberg Maritime, also involving the expertise and knowledge from DNV GL. As one of the first in the world, Stril Poseidon is equipped with the new KONGSBERG DPS i- series of position reference systems. The DPS i-series facilitates the possibility to operate where no additional augmentation service is required without compromising the DP performance accuracy. The solution integrates the KONGSBERG Motion Gyro Compass (MGC), a high-quality WheelMark gyro compass with no scheduled maintenance is a part of the solution. The MGC can in addition, serve other on-board systems with attitude data.
